New Projects
China Hunan Hengan Paper officially started production of Phase VI project
On the morning of July 13, the commissioning ceremony for the Phase VI project of Hunan Hengan Paper Co., Ltd. was held in Changde, Hunan. The project has a total investment of 819 million yuan and includes the construction of a new 36,000 square meters papermaking workshop and a 24,000 square meters storage center. Additionally, two new lines for tissue paper were installed. With the completion of this project, Hengan has now finished six phases of investment in Changde. The annual production capacity of base paper for tissue paper has reached 345,000 tons, with an annual processing capacity of 28 million boxes of finished products.
China Weituo Paper Machinery’s 2850 Crescent Tissue Machine successfully starts up at Guangxi Pinyuan Paper
On June 29, China Hebei Baoding Weituo Paper Machinery successfully started up a tissue machine at Guangxi Pinyuan Paper, which has a width of 2.85m, a speed of 1200 m/min, and an annual production capacity of 18000 tons.

China Lezan Paper received EIA approval for the 150,000 tpy tissue paper project
On July 10, China Lezan Paper received approval for its 150,000 tpy tissue paper project. The construction site is located in Wule Branch Park of Guigang Industrial Park, China. It will use commodity bagasse pulp and eucalyptus pulp as raw materials to produce facial tissues and toilet tissue. The project will be carried out in two phases, with a total capacity of 150,000 tpy tissue paper (50,000 tpy in the first phase and 100,000 tpy in the second phase), and an investment of 500 million yuan, including an environmental protection investment of 4.53 million yuan.
China Jinsanfa put medical and hygiene nonwoven materials projects into production
Recently, Zhejiang Jinsanfa Group officially started production of the Jinsanfa (Hubei) Industrial Park medical and hygiene nonwoven materials project and Youquan medical and hygiene supplies projectat Hubei Hanxiao Industrial Park. With a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan, the project covers an area of approximately 300,000 square meters. It introduces 36 lines for medical and hygiene nonwoven materials and care products, focusing on the production of medical and hygiene spunlace nonwoven fabric, spunbond (spunmelt) nonwoven fabric, medical disinfectant wipes, sanitizing wipe, and cotton soft wipes.

BASF China Shanghai Innovation Park Phase III officially completed
On June 28, the Phase III project of BASF China Shanghai Innovation Park, a German chemical giant, was officially completed. The Shanghai Innovation Park is BASF’s largest research and development base in the Asia-Pacific region, with two previous expansions completed in 2015 and 2019. The Phase III project includes two new research buildings aimed at advancing chemical research projects and developing sustainable solutions in areas such as polymer recycling technology and advanced materials.

China Vinda International achieved operating revenue of HK $10.07 billion in the first half of 2023, with e-commerce channels growing by 23.6%
China Vinda International announced its performance for the first half of 2023. Its total revenue reached HK $ 10.07 billion, achieving a natural growth of 10.1% and a growth of 4.0% in HKD terms. Vinda International stated that it will continue to adhere to its high-end strategy, invest in personal care business, leverage e-commerce channels, and focus on brand building to further enhance its competitive advantage and lay a solid foundation for long-term sustainable profit growth.
China C&S released preliminary performance report for the first half of 2023
On July 13, China C&S Paper Co., Ltd. released the preliminary performance report for the first half of 2023. In the first half of 2023, the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was about 79.6739 million yuan to 102.4379 million yuan, down 55% to 65% year on year. Basic earnings per share was 0.06 to 0.08 yuan/share.
China Baiya Corporation released performance report for the first half of 2023
On July 12, Chongqing Baiya Sanitary Products Co., Ltd. released its performance report for the first half of 2023. In the first half of 2023, the net profits attributable to shareholders of the listed companieswasabout125 million to 140 million yuan, an increase of 59.52% to 78.66% year on year.

China Winner Medical released performance report for the first half of 2023
On July 14, China Winner Medical Co., Ltd. released the performance report for the first half of 2023. In the first half of 2023, the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 670 million yuan to 700 million yuan, down 21.60% to 24.96% year on year. The main business income was 4.145 billion yuan to 4.395 billion yuan, down 14.06% to 18.95% year on year.

China released “Energy Efficiency Benchmark Levels and Baseline Levels for Key Industrial Sectors (2023 Edition), with toilet tissue parent roll and tissues parent roll entering key sectors
On July 4, the National Development and Reform Commission of China and other departments issued a notification regarding the “Energy Efficiency Benchmark Levels and Baseline Levels for Key Industrial Sectors (2023 Edition)”. In addition to the previously identified 25 key industrial sectors, this Edition includes eleven additional sectors: ethylene glycol, urea, titanium dioxide, polyvinyl chloride, purified terephthalic acid, radial tires, industrial silicon, toilet tissue parent roll and tissues parent roll, cotton, synthetic fiber and blended fabrics, knitted fabrics and yarns, and viscose staple fibers. In principle, these sectors are expected to complete technological upgrades or phase-outs by the end of 2026, so as to expand the scope of energy-saving and carbon reduction transformations in key industrial sectors.
China tissue paper industry added 830,000 tons of new capacity in the first half of 2023, with a slight decrease compared to the same period last year
According to the research compiled by the Secretariat of CNHPIA, China tissue paper industry added approximately 830,000 tpy of modern capacity in the first half of 2023, with a total of 29 tissue machines, including 21 domestically produced and 8 imported machines. Among them, 309,000 tpy was added in the first quarter, and 521,000 tpy in the second quarter. Compared to the 967,000 tpy added in the same period of 2022, the growth rate of capacity has slightly declined.

For the entire year of 2023, the industry plans to add approximately 2.731 million tpy of modern capacity. The capacity actually added in the first half of the year accounts for only about 30% of the planned annual capacity. It is expected that some projects planned for completion within the year may experience delays, leading to intensified market competition. Therefore, enterprises should exercise caution when making investments.
Two projects to implement the “Replace Plastic with Bamboo” initiative passed expert demonstration
On July 5, the Expert Demonstration Meeting for the Implementation of the “Replace Plastic with Bamboo” Initiative and the 26th Session of the Coordinating Leading Group of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) was held in Beijing, China. The two projects presented and evaluated during this demonstration were the “Major Key Technology Innovation Research and Demonstration for Replacing Plastic with Bamboo” project led by the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China and the “Key Technology Research and Demonstration for Replacing Plastic with Bamboo” project implemented by pilot member countries of the INBAR.

Several tissue paper industry enterprises selected for the second batch of Key Manufacturing Projects in Guangxi in 2023
Recently, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region released the list of “2023 Second Batch of ‘Thousand Enterprise Technological Transformation’Engineering Projects” in the region. Companies in the tissue paper industry such as Guangxi Zhihu Yunshang Industry Co., Ltd., Gold Hongye Paper (Nanning) Co., Ltd., Guangxi Hefaqiang Paper Co., Ltd., Guangxi Fangtai Paper Co., Ltd., and Liuzhou ZODE&FEXIK Machinery Co., Ltd. were selected for the list.

Hulijia’s patent wins gold award at the 6th China (Shanghai) International Invention &Innovation Expo
Recently, the 6th China (Shanghai) International Invention &Innovation Expo was held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Hulijia was invited to participate in this Expo and was awarded the gold medal at the 6th China (Shanghai) International Invention &Innovation Expo for its invention patent in the field of “basic materials”. The patent is related to the research and development of a new environmentally-friendly nonwoven absorbent core material.
China Chongzuo Lee & Man’s forestry-pulp-paper integration project construction advances in an orderly manner
China Chongzuo Lee & Man Pulp and Paper Products Co., Ltd. is an integrated forestry-pulp-paper industry chain project built by Lee & Man Group in Guangxi, and is the first “dual hundred billion” project in Chongzuo City, with an investment of over 10 billion yuan and an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan.

The project mainly processes pulp and paper using raw materials such as bamboo and bagasse. With an investment of 10.3 billion yuan, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of 10.2 billion yuan after putting into operation. The main construction includes an integrated industry chain for producing 1.1 million tons of forest, pulp and paper annually, and it is expected to be in full production by late August 2023.
China Haina Intelligent Equipment and China Huiyu Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. signed contract to build research and development center
On July 4, Jinjiang Haina, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Haina Intelligent Equipment International Holdings Limited, signed a construction contract with Fujian Huiyu Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., for the establishment of a research and development center and other supporting facilities.

China Huangshan Futian Machinery and Anhui Polytechnic University successfully held “Intelligent Equipment Joint Laboratory Signing and Unveiling Ceremony”
On the afternoon of June 28, China Huangshan Futian Smart Machinery Co., Ltd. successfully held a series of signing activities with Anhui Polytechnic University under the theme of “Pooling School-Enterprise Resources for a Better Future”. During this signing event, Huangshan Futian Smart Machinery and Anhui Polytechnic University signed an agreement to jointly establish an Intelligent Equipment Joint Laboratory and unveiled it. Additionally, both parties signed an agreement for the introduction of high-end talents. After the implementation of the newly signed investment intention, it is estimated that the annual production value of the company will reach around 600 million yuan.
