APP China put all production capacity of of Rudong tissue project Phase I into operation
On June 26, 2021, APP China started its first Valmet TM1 in Rudong Base. One and a half years later, on December 30, 2022, APP China successfully started up all the 18 IntelliTissue tissue machines and 2 DCT200+ tissue machines provided by Valmet in Rudong Base. APP’s Rudong Project Phase I, with 780000 tons per year of high-grade tissue capacity, has been fully put into operation.
China Guangxi Sun Paper completed its tissue project phase I
Guangxi Sun Paper Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Sun Paper, successfully started up the PM12 in the first phase of its 150000 tpy tissue project on January 8, 2023. So far, its first phase tissue project has been completed.

China Weituo Paper-Making Machinery’s 2850/1400m crescent tissue machine successfully started up in China Yunnan Hanguang Paper
Asia Symbol (Guangdong) successfully started up No. 13 tissue machine
Asia Symbol (Guangdong) Paper successfully started up the tissue machine provided by Andritz in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China. The tissue machine has a design speed of 1,900 m/min, and a width of 5.65 meters.
On January 14, China Weituo Paper-Making Machinery Co., Ltd. successfully started up its tissue machine in Yunnan Hanguang Paper Co., Ltd., which has a width of 2850mm, a speed of 1400m/min, and an annual capacity of 20000 tons. The tissue machine adopts the energy-saving breathing gas hood and multistage turbulent headbox independently developed and manufactured by Weituo Paper-Making Machinery, and is a new energy-saving and environmentally-friendly high-speed tissue machine that Weituo is currently focusing on.

Recently, Sinar Mas Group APP (China) announced that it has officially opened up a strategic cooperation with Shanghai Hi-tech Bioengineering Co., Ltd. APP (China) will exclusively use Shanghai Hi-tech’s patented bio-enzyme technology to develop tissue paper products to meet the increasing demand of consumers for daily protection and cleaning with innovative biological antibacterial products.
Recently, China Shandong Sun Holdings Group’s “Sun Elements” brand has been honored on the list of Shandong Famous Brands released by Shandong Council for Brand Development in 2022.

On January 6, Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. signed an industry-university-research cooperation agreement with China Qilu University of Technology and held an unveiling ceremony. The two sides will work together to improve the technological innovation system, strengthen industry-university-research cooperation, overcome key core technologies, and enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises.
On January 6, Rizhao Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau issued the Notice on the Announcement of 2022 Municipal Expert Service Base and Municipal Rural Revitalization Expert Service Base, identifying Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. as the municipal expert service base.

China Guangxi Laibin Guibin Paper successfully signed the second tissue paper machine
Recently, China Guangxi Laibin Guibin Paper successfully signed a contract with Baoding Changda Papermaking Machinery Co., Ltd. on the 30,000 tons per year of tissue expansion project. The contracted crescent tissue machine has a width of 2850 mm, a design speed of 1400 meters per minute, and an annual capacity of more than 20000 tons.

The provisional import tax rate on diapers, sanitary napkins and other commodities in 2023 dropped significantly
On December 28, 2022, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China issued a notice that China will adjust import and export tariffs on some commodities starting from January 1, 2023, implementing a provisional import tax rate for a total of 1020 commodities (excluding those with tariff quotas). Among them, the provisional import tax rate for “96190011 baby diapers” and “96190019 adult diapers” will be reduced to 0, and the provisional import tax rate for “96190020 sanitary napkins (pads) and tampons” will be reduced to 2%.

Ten top news of Chinese paper industry in 2022 announced
On January 11, China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute announced the ten top stories of Chinese paper industry in 2022, which are, in order: Bamboo pulp and paper industry was included in the scope of the trial for assessment and deduction of input value-added tax on agricultural products, Xiaonan District of Xiaogan City was awarded “Capital of Chinese Tissue Paper and Hygiene (Products) Industry”, several “13th Five-Year” national key research and development projects in the papermaking field passed review, the Industrial Water Efficiency Improvement Action Plan was released, the Implementation Plan for Peaking Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Industry Sector was released, two papermaking related projects won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China National Light Industry Council 2021, the first China-led international standard for papermaking was officially released, 41 hygiene products manufacturers’ products were listed in the “2022 Elderly Care Products Promotion Catalog”, the provisional tax rate for commodities under 70 tariff codes in papermaking category dropped significantly in 2023, and the COVID-19 had a great impact on Chinese paper industry.
