China Hengan Group and Baosuo Enterprise Group upgraded cooperation and re-signed a contract for Baotuo tissue machine
for a Baotuo crescent tissue machine for its PM30 in Changde base, Hunan, China. The BC1800-3650 crescent tissue machine is high-speed, high-performance and has a design speed of 1,800m/min and a width of 3,650mm. It will add 30,000 tpy of high-quality tissue for Hengan Group after it goes into production.
Recently, Hengan Group’s Hunan Hengan Tissue Paper Co., Ltd. renewed its cooperation with Baosuo Enterprise Group, and signed a contract
China Hengan Group Invested in Two Valmet Advantage QRT Tissue Paper Production Lines
Recently, China Hengan Group has decided to invest in two Valmet Advantage QRT tissue paper production lines, which are equipped with automation solutions and to produce facial tissue and kitchen towel. The two new production lines have a width of 3.65 m, a design speed of 1,800 m/min and a total capacity of about 70,000 t. Both are scheduled to be put into operation in the first half of 2023 at the bases of Hengan Group in Hunan Province and Hubei Province, respectively.

Two crescent tissue machines, provided by China Baoding Weituo Paper-making Machinery, were successfully started up
On February 25 and March 5, Baoding Xingfa Paper and Shandong Longkou Mingjie Paper respectively put the 3550 crescent tissue machine, provided by Weituo Paper-making Machinery, into production. The machine has a width of 3,550mm, a design speed of 1,200m/min, and an annual capacity of 24,000 tons.
C&S successfully put TM4 into production in its Tangshan production base
On February 23, C&S successfully put TM4 into production in its Tangshan production base. This crescent tissue machine is provided by China Baotuo, with a width of 3,500mm and a design speed of 1,800m/min. It uses market wood pulp as a raw material and has an annual capacity of more than 30,000 tons.

Shanxi Xiangyun Paper Put into Formal Production
On March 11, the tissue paper converting project of Shanxi Xiangyun Paper Co., Ltd. was put into formal production. Shanxi Xiangyun Paper Co., Ltd. currently has 10 production lines making toilet tissue, handkerchief tissue and facial tissue, with a designed capacity of 200,000 t, and the annual capacity of the first-phase project reaches 80,000 t.
Asia Symbol (Shandong, China) launched tissue paper and culture paper project
On February 25, Asia Symbol (Shandong, China) Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. started construction of tissue paper and high-grade culture paper project. Overall investment of the project is predicted to be 10.1 billion yuan. The new project will add 500,000 tons of tissue paper and 500,000 tons of high-grade culture paper capacity annually, and related environmental protection and energy-saving projects.

China Winsun will build a joint-venture diaper factory in Indonesia with China MAKUKU
On March 12, Guangdong Winsun Personal Care Products Co., Ltd. and Shanghai MAKUKU E-commerce Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony and reached an agreement on the joint-venture diaper factory to be built in Indonesia.
China BABO Healthy Bamboo Industrial Park was officially ignited and commissioned
On March 17, China BABO held the ignition and commissioning ceremony of Healthy Bamboo Industrial Park and the opening ceremony of office building. The establishment of BABO Healthy Bamboo Industrial Park aims to continuously develop green and low-carbon bamboo industry and help realize carbon neutrality with the strength of enterprises.

This is the fifth production and manufacturing base under U-Play Corporation, which covers an area of 45 mu and a planned construction area of 35,000 ㎡. It introduces 4 German Trützschler nonwoven production lines of international leading level, is completed with testing system, water treatment system and dust removal system, and can produce 30,000 t of 100% cotton spunlaced nonwovens annually.
Zhejiang Huahao started up its first wetlaid nonwovens production line
Recently, Zhejiang Huahao New Material Co., Ltd. started up its first wetlaid nonwovens production line, among which the wetlaid forming part was designed and manufactured by Hangzhou Meichen Paper Technology Co., Ltd., with the finished product width of 3550mm.

Performance of Listed Company
C&S released annual performance report for 2021
On February 28, C&S Paper Co., Ltd. released its 2021 annual performance express. In 2021, the company’s total operating revenue reached 9.19 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.52%, and the operating profit was 675.5 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 38.80%. Net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 581.5 million yuan, 35.80% lower than last year.
Kao developed steadily in the Chinese market and achieved net sales of 1.4188 trillion yen in 2021
In 2021, the net sales of Kao Corporation were about 1.4188 trillion yen (about 78.33 billion yuan), a year-on-year growth of 2.7%; its operating income was about 143.5 billion yen, down 18.3% year on year.
In China, due to the rapid development of e-commerce and other factors, the sales and market share of Kao’ sanitary napkin products have shown steady growth. In the field of baby diapers, Kao Corporation took measures to improve its brand value in the first half of 2021. In addition, Kao Corporation has also increased local production to respond quickly and effectively to changes in Chinese consumer demand and business environment.

Performance of Listed Company
Hengan International achieved a net profit of 3.274 billion yuan in 2021
In 2021, Hengan International achieved operating income of 20.790 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7.1%; its net profit reached 3.274 billion yuan, down 28.8% year on year; and its gross margin was 37.4%, down 4.9 percentage points from 42.3% a year earlier.
Unicharm announced a 7.6% increase in net sales in 2021 and actively explored the high-end market in China
In 2021, Unicharm’s net sales were about 782.7 billion yen (about 42.72 billion yuan), up 7.6% year on year. Its net profit was about 72.7 billion yen (about 3.97 billion yuan), up 39.0% year on year.
In the Chinese market, the company’s high-quality feminine hygiene products are still popular with the younger generation and continue to achieve high growth, especially in the pants sanitary napkins and organic cotton sanitary napkins. In terms of baby care business, Unicharm focuses on e-commerce and baby stores to strengthen the sales of “Moony” series products made in China with high added value. However, due to fewer Chinese babies and lower demand for Japanese-made products,Unicharm’s cross-border e-commerce sales with China have dropped, showing sluggish net sales growth.

Ministry of Commerce: RCEP came into force for Malaysia
On January 1, 2022, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) officially came into force. The first countries involved in the agreement include Brunei, Cambodia and other six ASEAN countries, as well as four non-ASEAN countries including China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. The RCEP went into force for the ROK on February 1 and for Malaysia on March 18.
After the RCEP comes into force for Malaysia, it will not only strongly promote trade and investment cooperation between China and Malaysia, bringing more dividends to businesses and people of both countries, but also facilitate mutual complementarity and in-depth integration of regional industrial and supply chains, creating new opportunities for regional economic integration and regional and global economic growth.

Price Rise in Tissue Paper Market of Taiwan, China
Due to the rising costs of raw materials, logistics, energy, environmental protection, packaging materials, labor costs and so on, tissue paper manufacturers in Taiwan, China have started to increase the purchase price of distributors after the Chinese Spring Festival to reflect the cost, and the terminal retail price is determined by the distributors themselves.
The first wave of price increase ranges from 5% to 20%. Therein, the price increase of draw-out toilet tissue ranges from 5% to 8%, and that of flat toilet tissue, pocket facial tissue and kitchen towel ranges from 5% to 20%.
According to the analysis of Taiwan industry experts, at present, the draw-out toilet tissue accounts for about 80% of the total toilet tissue in Taiwan. It is estimated that the draw-out toilet tissue will continue to grow steadily by 2% to 3% in the future, and the flat toilet tissue will continue to decline, which may eventually be replaced by the draw-out toilet tissue. With the increased consumption of kitchen towel, duster cloth will gradually be replaced by it.

During the visit, the delegation also communicated with 15 enterprises in the hygiene products industry in Guangdong and representatives of Guangdong Medical and Health Association.

In March 2022, CNHPIA launched the “Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) Basic Knowledge Training Lecture” series on the “Tissue Paper and Hygiene Products Cloud Service” platform. This training course was taught by Sun Jing, executive editor of Tissue Paper & Disposable Products, and sponsored by Hangzhou Xi’anda Antibacterial Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. This course consists of three lectures, and they have been launched on the cloud service platform on March 9, March 16 and March 23 respectively.
