Xinqiu District, Fuxin City, China, actively builds tissue paper industry cluster
Recently, three projects in Xinqiu District, Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, China, namely Central District Coal Gangue Integrated Treatment Base Phase I, “Yuanmu Paper” and “Mu’an Paper”, completed and put into production at the same time, of which, the Central District Coal Gangue Integrated Treatment Base Phase I can process 2 million tons of coal gangue per year and provide raw materials for tunnel kiln brick making enterprises in the area. “Yuanmu Paper” can produce 30,000 tons of tissue rolls by importing pulp board and utilizing waste heat from the original tunnel kiln. “Mu’an Paper” relies on “Yuanmu paper” for deep processing and can produce 20,000 tons of tissue paper per year, which is sold through e-commerce platforms and offline supermarkets.
Up to now, Xinqiu District has put into production four “brick, tissue and steam integration” and paper products deep processing projects with an annual capacity of 65,000 tons of paper products, five projects under construction with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons of paper products, and seven projects under in-depth negotiation and full progress.

Asia Symbol (Shandong) started up two China Hicredit’s crescent tissue machines as scheduled
On January 12, China Hicredit, together with China Asia Symbol team, completed the start-up of two tissue machines ahead of schedule, which will be used for the first phase of Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper’s 50000-ton tissue paper project. The two crescent tissue machineshave a design speed of 1700m/min and a width of 2850mm, are equipped with a 16ft steel Yank cylinder, dust removal system, fog removal system and on-line shaft pulling system, and are used to produce tissue paper with the grammage of 11.5-22g/m2.

Gold Hongye puts its Rudong tissue paper production base into fully operation
Recently, Gold Hongye puts the first phase of its Rudong Industrial Base project with 24 production lines in full production. The project is planned to be built in three phases with a total investment of 45 billion yuan, of which, the first phase investment is more than 10 billion yuan.
Tianjiao started construction of its China Hubei base
On February 15, China Quanzhou Tianjiao Lady & Baby’s Hygiene Supply Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Hubei Tianjiao Hygiene Supply base in the Tianjiao Hygiene Supply Project Park in Xiaonan District, Xiaogan City, China. The total investment of the project is planned to be 1.2 billion yuan, and the first phase of the project is planned to cover an area of 210 mu with 12 new intelligent production lines.
China Haina held a groundbreaking ceremony for 20 complete sets of intelligent equipment
On February 8, China Jinjiang Haina Machinery Co., Ltd., held a groundbreaking ceremony for its 20 complete sets of intelligent equipment project, marking the official opening of the project and the movement into the substantive construction stage.

China Vinda International achieved operating revenue of HK $19.418 billion in 2022
In 2022, China Vinda International achieved operating revenue of HK $19.418 billion, up 4.0% year on year; gross profit was HK $5.483 billion, down 16.9% year on year; and net profit was HK $706 million, with a net profit margin of 3.6%. Among them, revenue from tissue paper business was HK $16.103 billion, up 3.9% year on year; and revenue from personal care products rose 4.4% to HK $3.314 billion.
China Baiya Corporation achieved operating revenue of about 1.612 billion yuan in 2022, up 10.19% year on year
On January 18, Chongqing Baiya Sanitary Products Co., Ltd. released its 2022 annual performance report. In 2022, the company’s total revenue was about 1.612 billion yuan, up 10.19% year on year. Operating profit was about 217 million yuan, down 14.98% year on year. Net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was about 188 million yuan, down 17.47% year on year.

China Winner Medical released performance forecast for 2022
On January 12, China Winner Medical Co., Ltd. released its 2022 annual performance forecast. In 2022, the company’s main business revenue was about 11.07 billion to 11.70 billion yuan, an increase of 38.79% to 46.69% year on year. Net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was about 1.62 billion to 1.85 billion yuan, up 30.72% to 49.28% year on year.
Among them, in the medical consumables business, the company achieved double-digit growth in non-disease control and protection products. In the business of healthy consumer goods, the sales revenue increased significantly and the marketing expense rate decreased year-on-year, which, together with a series of cost reduction and efficiency measures implemented by the company, resulted in a substantial increase in the company’s net profit.

On January 30, Xiamen Yanjan New Material Co., Ltd. released its 2022 annual performance report. In 2022, the company’s net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies ranged from 30.4 million yuan to 45.6 million yuan, up 80.5% to 170.74% year on year.

China Focus Hotmelt released 2022 annual performance report
On December 28, 2022, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China issued a notice that China will adjust import and export tariffs on some commodities starting from January 1, 2023, implementing a provisional import tax rate for a total of 1020 commodities (excluding those with tariff quotas). Among them, the provisional import tax rate for “96190011 baby diapers” and “96190019 adult diapers” will be reduced to 0, and the provisional import tax rate for “96190020 sanitary napkins (pads) and tampons” will be reduced to 2%.

9.56 million people were born in China in 2022
Recently, China’s National Bureau of Statistics released its latest population data. In 2022, 9.56 million people were born in China, with a birth rate of 6.77‰, 10.41 million people died, with a mortality rate of 7.37‰, and the natural population growth rate was -0.60‰. As to the structure of genders, the male population was 722.06 million and the female population was 689.69 million. The sex ratio of the total population is 104.69 males per 100 females.

In 2022, both the export volume and export value of China’s tissue paper increased significantly year on year, with export volume of 785,700 tons, up 22.89% year on year, and export value of USD 2.033 billion, up 38.6% year on year. The export volume and export price of finished paper rose and the average export price of toilet tissue, handkerchief tissue and facial tissue increased by more than 20%. The increase in the average price of exported finished products is an important factor driving the growth in total export value of tissue paper in 2022.
The export scale of absorbent hygiene products in China has been growing steadily, reaching 1.1386 million tons in 2022, with a year-on-year growth of 10.46%. The total import volume of absorbent hygiene products is decreasing year by year, and its influence on the industry continues to decline.
Both import and export volumes of China’s wipes have declined significantly, but the export volume is much higher than the import volume. The total export volume was 522,400 tons, down 17.79% year on year, with cleaning wipes as the main export product. The total import volume was 37,600 tons, which had little impact on the domestic market.

On January 31, the international standard ISO 9184-1:2023 Paper, board and pulps—Fiber furnish analysis—Part 1: General Method, led and developed by China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute, was officially released. This is the second international standard in the papermaking filed completed under the leadership of China after the first one released in October 2022.

CNHPIA is going to celebrate the 30th anniversary
The year 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of CNHPIA. The past 30 years have witnessed the vigorous development of China’s tissue paper and hygiene products industry, as well as the rapid improvement of Chinese people’s hygiene habits and health standards. CNHPIA will hold the 30th anniversary celebration during the 30th China International Disposable Paper Expo in May this year, and compile the “30th Anniversary Album”, “Sustainability Report of the Industry” and “White Paper of Industry Brand Building”.
