New Projects
APP successfully started TM21 in Rudong, China
On September 26, APP successfully started its TM21 in Rudong. The machine is supplied by Valmet. It has a width of 5.63 m and a design speed of 1,800 m/min. Before that, APP has put 12 Valmet tissue machines into production in Rudong base.
China Shandong Hengan Paper plans to build a 30,000 t/a tissue paper project
On October 9, China Shandong Hengan Paper disclosed the information on its 30,000 t/a tissue paper project. Part of the old plant in Phase III will be reconstructed, the original production line will be retained, and a 30,000 t/a high-grade tissue paper production line as well as supporting rewinders and other auxiliary equipment will be added in this reconstruction and expansion project. The new BC1800 crescent tissue machine was provided by Baosuo Group, with a design speed of 1,800m/min and a design width of 2.81m. The new TM has an annual capacity of 30,000 t of base paper, and has the advantages of large capacity, low energy consumption and stable operation.

China Guangxi Sun Paper put two tissue paper production lines into operation successfully
Guangxi Sun Paper Co., Ltd. planned to put 4 tissue machines into operation in the first phase of 150,000 tpy tissue paper project, among which PM9 and PM10,
Signed on the 16th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, Lee & Man’s Chongzuo phase I whole industry chain project will be completed with a forestry-pulp-paper integration capacity of 1.1 million tons, including 300,000 tones of bleached chemical pulp, 400,000 tons of high-grade tissue paper, 400,000 tons of tissue paper converting and e-commerce, intelligent logistics parks and other supporting facilities. Equipment has been installed in mid-September.
China Lee & Man signed Chongzuo phase II project
provided by Baotuo Group, have been successfully put into trial production on September 12 and October 3, 2022, respectively.
On September 16, Lee & Man successfully signed the phase II project of economic whole industrial chain base of Chongzuo headquarters with an investment amount of 20.4 billion yuan at the signing ceremony of the 19th China-ASEAN Expo held in Nanning, Guangxi.

China Yanjan’s high-end medical and hygienic new materials industrialization project will be delivered in March 2023
China Yanjan’s high-end medical and hygienic new materials industrialization project will be delivered in March 2023, nearly half a year ahead of the original plan. The project, located in Xiamen City, will produce 20,000 t of spunbonded hot-air-through nonwovens per year after completion, with an estimated annual output value of 1 billion yuan.
Sateri successfully started up Lyocell line with an annual capacity of 100,000 t in Changzhou, China
On September 19, Sateri (Changzhou) Fiber Co., Ltd. officially put its first Lyocell line with an annual capacity of 100,000 t into operation. Lyocell fiber is made from natural plant fiber, the organic solvent used is almost completely recyclable, and the product is biodegradable. After production, Sateri (Changzhou) will continue to expand the production scale to achieve the design target of 300,000tpy of Lyocell fiber.

China Vinda achieved revenue of HK $14.055 billion in the first three quarters
On October 17, China Vinda announced unaudited financial information for the first three quarters of 2022. Its total revenue grew by 6.6% to HK $14.055 billion, of which HK $11.562 billion came from the tissue paper business; and HK $2.492 billion came from the personal care products business. Gross profit fell by 11.2% to HK $4.291 billion, and operating profit narrowed by 46.7% to HK $834 million.

China tissue paper industry put 1.312 million tpy of capacity into production in the first three quarters of 2022 — Q3 has seen a steady growth in capacity
According to the survey of Tissue Paper & Disposable Products, from January to September 2022, China tissue paper industry put about 1.312 million tpy of modern capacity into production, with a total of 53 tissue machines, including 46 domestic tissue machines and 7 imported tissue machines. Among them, 624,000tpy was put into production in the first quarter, 343,000tpy in the second quarter and 345,000tpy in the third quarter.
For the whole year of 2022, the industry plans to put 3.339 million tpy of modern capacity into production, and the capacity that actually has come on stream in the first three quarters only accounts for nearly 40% of the planned capacity for the year. In the third quarter, industrial production capacity increased steadily, and the increment was basically the same as that in the second quarter.

On September 23, the Intellectual Property Utilization Promotion Department of CNIPA publicized the list of National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprises and National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprises. Two tissue paper and hygiene products industry enterprises, COCO and Zhende Medical, were successfully shortlisted as “National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprises”. Sun Paper, Baiya and Purcotton were successfully shortlisted as “National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprises”, setting a good example for the industry.

China COCO’s “Vibrant Chong Yang: Respecting and Caring for the Elderly” welfare activity held successfully
On October 4, the Double Ninth Chong Yang Festival, China COCO jointly held the Double Ninth welfare activity with Hangzhou Cherish-Yearn Nursing Home again to send warmth and care to more than 100 elderly people in the home.
COCO set up a site in the Cherish-Yearn Nursing Home. On-site staff explained the causes, degree classification and nursing methods of adult incontinence to the elderly through hands-on demonstration and product introduction, and provided samples of adult incontinent products.

The first China-led international standard for papermaking officially released
On October 18, the international standard ISO 187: 2022 Paper, board and pulps — Standard atmosphere for conditioning and testing and procedure for monitoring the atmosphere and conditioning of samples, led and developed by China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute, was officially released. This standard is the first international standard in the papermaking field completed under the leadership of China, and also the first standard project managed by Chinese experts as the convener of ISO working group in the papermaking field.

On October 4, the Double Ninth Chong Yang Festival, China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute and CNHPIA spread the knowledge about adult diapers to consumers through popular science video, covering topics such as which adult diapers to choose, whether adult diapers will cause skin problems, what are functional adult diapers and how to persuade the elderly to use adult incontinent products, so as to help consumers choose appropriate adult diapers for the elderly.

Sinolight Hygiene Products Research Co., a sub-company of China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute, helps Hengan Group to promote safety management
On September 27, Hengan Group’s Innovation Center organized the meeting of “Hengan Group raw material and finished product safety and composition management project”. Sinolight (Jinjiang) Hygiene Products Research Co., Ltd., a sub-company of China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute, attended the meeting as the technical support unit.
With the change of national laws, regulations and standards as well as the continuous improvement of consumers’ attention to safety, Hengan Group’s Innovation Center organized procurement staff, category research and development and quality control personnel to set up special groups this year, and joined hands with Sinolight to further promote the safety management of materials and finished products. At this meeting, Sinolight analyzed the safety of raw materials and finished products in detail, and put forward professional suggestions.
