概述 SUMMARY

THISDL ASA are designed and carried out based on the THIS DL mission, vision and core values of school. Schools carry out a variety of ASA to provide students with a platform and opportunities to fully explore, participate, contact and understand diverse cultures, and cultivate students' independent thinking ability and team spirit. ASA are mainly divided into the following four directions: academic and quality development, STEAM courses, creative performance and art activities, and sports activities and school sports team.
2022-2023 THISDL secondary and high school has opened 70 activities and clubs for students. This review provides parents with first period of 2022-2023 THISDL after school activity. 
THISDL的办学目标是为领袖人才奠基,所谓领袖人才,就是可以创新、引领,为社会发展和人类进步做出贡献。我校ASA课程的设置是基于我校的使命、愿景及核心价值观来设计和开展的。本着跨学科、兴趣引导、专业培养的原则,学校开展丰富多彩的课后活动,为学生提供平台和机会去充分探索、参与,接触和了解多元的文化,培养学生的独立思考能力和团队合作精神。我校ASA的设置主要分为四个方向:学术提升及素质能力拓展、STEAM课程、创造性艺术及表演课程以及运动和校队训练课程。2022-2023学年,我校初高中学部课后课共计开设70门,此报告为第一阶段的课程回顾。

世界电影文化赏析
Appreciation of world film culture

This semester, the first session of Appreciation of World Film Culture  systematically studied the knowledge of film ontology research and film history, including: film styles, film genres, shots, lighting styles, scene scheduling, frame layout, image composition and design, film editing, montage, long shots, silent and sound films, sound effects and music, performance types, praise styles, stars and American popular culture, etc. Students appreciate the "factory gate", "train" "water gardener" (the lumiere brothers director) the moon, "city lights" (merry love director) director (Charlie Chaplin) people of stealing a bicycle (director DE sica) "2001: a space Odyssey" (Stanley kubrick) "E.T. aliens (spielberg Director) "Dunkirk" (directed by Nolan) and other classic films, each class will have a lively discussion, analysis of the film's creation techniques and highlights. The instructor also allowed the students to choose their favorite classic films for appreciation. Some students shared films like Dead Poets Society professionally in class.
本学期《世界电影文化赏析(初中)》第一期课程系统学习了电影本体研究和电影发展史的知识,具体包括:电影风格、电影类型、镜头、照明风格、场面调度、画框布局、影像构图和设计、电影剪辑、蒙太奇、长镜头、默片与有声电影、音效和音乐、表演类型、表扬风格、明星和美国通俗文化等。在课上,我们赏析了《工厂大门》《火车到站》《水浇园丁》(卢米埃尔兄弟 导演)《月球旅行记》(梅里爱 导演)《城市之光》(卓别林 导演)《偷自行车的人》(德西卡 导演)《2001太空漫游》(库布里克 导演)《E.T. 外星人》(斯皮尔伯格 导演)《敦刻尔克》(诺兰 导演)等经典影片,每堂课均进行热烈的讨论,分析电影的创作手法和精彩之处。指导老师还让学生们自主选择喜爱的经典影片进行赏析,有同学在课上对《死亡诗社》等影片做了专业的分享。

纪录片赏析与创作
Appreciation and creation of 
documentaries

This semester, the first period of Documentary Appreciation and Creation systematically studied documentary ontology research, documentary development history, documentary appreciation skills, and documentary creation methods. We guided the students to appreciate Kindergarten (directed by Zhang Yiqing), Musical Life (directed by Zhang Jingwei), The Biggest Little Farm (directed by Chester), My Time and I (directed by Liu Junwei), Old Man (directed by Yang Li Na), Mountaineer (directed by Mortimer), Ryuichi Sakamoto: The Final Song (directed by Skibo) is a series of seven excellent documentaries. The creative ideas and techniques of documentaries are discussed in each class. The instructor also asked the students to make an initial attempt to create a documentary, and shoot a one-minute short film about themselves with the theme of "me". Learning while doing, while doing while learning, gradually transitioned to the stage of documentary creation.
本学期《纪录片赏析与创作》第一期课程系统学习了纪录片本体研究、纪录片发展历史、纪录片赏析的技巧,以及纪录片创作的方法。我们指导学生赏析了《幼儿园》(张以庆 导演)、《音乐人生》(张经纬 导演)、《最大的小小农场》(切斯特 导演)、《我的时代和我》(刘军卫 导演)、《老头》(杨荔钠 导演)《登山家》(莫蒂默 导演)《坂本龙一:终曲》(斯奇博 导演)七部优秀纪录片,每堂课均进行热烈的讨论,分析纪录片的创作思想与创作手法。指导老师还让学生初步尝试进行纪录片创作,以“我”为主题拍摄一部关于自己的1分钟短片。边学边做,边做边学,逐步过渡到纪录片创作的阶段。

Fiction Writting

The Fiction Writing Club is a place where young writers can hone their craft in an informal setting. We embrace the idea that every writer can benefit from frank and honest discourse with an audience of readers. When we meet, we know that everyone at the table is there to celebrate our successes, and we also know that we are our own worst critics. We make a habit of reading and responding to each other’s work. Our goal is twofold. We want to say something that worked especially well, and we want to say something that can be improved. After all, we hope, one day, to create lengthy and complex mature works.We also understand that writing happens not because we wish it to happen but because we take the time to nurture it. Another habit we embrace is to spend time writing longhand in a notebook before sharing the result. Our goal is to write addatively, because a longer composition takes more skill and employs more and more varied techniques. The workshop atmosphere helps us to produce writing uncritically. We know we need to find our voices. To do so is a decidedly and dedicatedly unsystematic endeavor, and we embrace the false starts, defeats, and failures that are needed to arrive at something genuine.Although we do not follow a system, we do seek to improve our craft by highlighting elements of technique which authors employ to tell stories. So far this year, we have asked whether our ideas about character are sufficiently developed, we have asked whether the plot mountain prototype can help us to plan, we have asked at what psychic distance should we set our voices, we have asked what qualities separate one voice from another, and we have asked whether meter and rhythm can add to our compositions.
小说是一种以塑造人物为中心,通过描述完整的故事情节和具体生活环境,形象、深刻、多方位的反映叙事性文学体裁。在小说写作俱乐部,同学们通过学习写作技巧,通过创作、分享、反思的步骤,来不断的练习和提升写作能力。

Soft pen calligraphy

The ASA calligraphy class of secondary school takes the form of collective basic exercises and individual works creation. The collective basic exercises include special training of strokes and analyzation of typical Chinese characters. In the individual works creation part, students their favorite poem from Wang Wei, Nalan Xingde, and Yu Qian, which focuses on the control of the chapter organization and ink. 国画工作坊
Chinese painting

This course is mainly about the development of the history of traditional Chinese painting, with the representative famous artists and works as the basis point, the classification of Chinese painting teaching. The combination of copying and creation, the integration of practice and historical theory. The aim is to enable students to immerse themselves in learning from a more professional perspective and feel the artistic charm of traditional Chinese painting. Cultivate students' ability to discover beauty, appreciate beauty and love beauty.
In this half semester, we started with the line drawing in traditional ink and brush style of Chinese painting and deeply learned the application and expression of lines. At present, students have mastered the method of line modeling. After the intensive training of the line drawing in traditional ink and brush style of Yongle Palace murals, we entered the stage of collage and re-creation. According to the combination of their own grasp of color and tradition, the students used the waste in life to complete the re-creation of Yongle Palace murals, endowing the waste with artistic life.
本课程主要是沿着中国传统绘画史的发展脉络,以历代具有代表性的名家名作为基点,对中国画进行分类教学。临摹与创作结合、实践与史论相融。旨在使学生能从更专业的角度进行沉浸式的学习,感受中国传统绘画的艺术魅力。培养学生发现美、欣赏美、热爱美的能力。
在这半个学期的学习中,我们从中国画的白描入手,深度学习了线条的运用与表现,目前学生们已经熟练掌握了用线造型的方法;在白描永乐宫壁画的集中训练后,我们进入了拼贴再创作的阶段,学生们根据自己对色彩的把握与传统结合,利用生活中的废弃物,完成永乐宫壁画的再度创造,赋予废弃物以艺术的生命。
在接下来的半学期学习中,我们将进行工笔花鸟画的设色学习,并理解与运用国画色彩,愿同学们在接下来的学习中,能更加专注,并尽量在课余时间,多读有关中国艺术的书籍或查阅相关的资料,以便辅助各自对本课程的理解与学习。

四大名著导读
Introduction to the 
Four Great Classics

As the treasure house of Chinese culture and world literature, the four Great Classical novels' literary value cannot be underestimated. In the first stage, we completed the interpretation of the original work of Journey to the West. At the beginning of the semester, we first learned about the process of the book's completion, from the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty, which pursued the dream of learning from the Western regions, to the Journey to the West, written by Wu Cheng 'en for entertainment despite the pressure of reality. When director Yang Jie started to shoot 86 versions of the TV series, the story spanning more than 500 years established the connection between children's "Journey to the West" and "people".Later, in addition to quickly combing the plot and mastering the essence of the story by skip reading, we also spent a lot of time leading students to review the details of the original work and explore the artistic techniques and spiritual essence of the characters in Journey to the West based on the characters' experiences.
四大名著作为中国文化的宝库,也是世界文学的宝库,它的文学价值不容小觑。但是在传统语文课堂上,大多是节选而读,应试而读。孩子们,没有经常读原文、看原著、悟原理,许多时候浅尝、辄止,没有完全达到“入脑、入心”的效果。在第一阶段上我们完成了《西游记》原著的解读,在学期初,我们先了解了《西游记》的成书经过,从追求梦想西域取经的《大唐西域记》,到不惧现实压力毅然著书自娱的吴承恩《西游记》。再到杨洁导演启动拍摄86版电视剧,这跨度长达500余年的故事建立了孩子对于《西游记》与“人心”的联系。
在之后的阅读过程中,我们除了使用跳读法快速梳理情节,掌握故事本质之外,还花了大量的时间带领学生重温原著细节,以人物经历为线索,探究《西游记》塑造人物的艺术手法以及人物精神本质。我们从斜月三星洞学艺的悟空身上体会出了,悟空代表人心,每个人的成长总是不断规训,挑战规则,然后适应的过程。通过八戒从天到地的经历,我们了解了人性贪婪的一面不是邪恶,要学会如何和欲望共处。通过剖析一个个小妖怪,我们知道了反面角色与坏人之间也有细微的差别。

陶艺工作坊
Pottery Workshop

Students started their pottery journey this year by painting pots that the teacher had created. The students were simply told to paint these pots using an underglaze paint. The purpose of this assignment was two-fold; the teacher wanted to gauge the student’s level and skills of creativity, and to give the students a success for their first project.In ceramic studies the initial failure rate is quite high. As such, this first project was designed to motivate them through any future failures.Once students had had their first success, they had more confidence to try their hand at creating their own pieces.Our first few projects used clay slabs to make small flat vessels, name-plates and boxes. All of these are a good way to get to learn the basics of clay work. Understanding the tensile strengths and weaknesses of clay will determine what is possible, and even though initially seeming impossible, there are way in which students are able to apply strengths and limitations of the medium to their own advantage to achieve their desired outcome.One of the big projects which we have undertaken this quarter is to make hexagonal wall tiles. These tiles we embellished with flowers, leaves and butterflies. The students were encouraged to add their names to their tiles. We did this so that students take ownership of their own studies, and makes the pottery studio a part of their world, and not just a place that they go to study pottery.Students have excelled in creating works of a high quality, and have taken great joy in being allowed to express themselves in a medium which they are unfamiliar with.
清香陶艺社团,学生用搓泥球、盘泥条、拍泥板等基础技法,创作出各式各样的作品,在玩中体验陶泥艺术的精彩和乐趣。最初的课程里,学生使用粘土板制作小的扁平容器,名牌和盒子。通过制作小器具学习了粘土制作的基础知识。了解粘土的拉伸度。陶艺课的首个项目是制作六角形墙砖。我们用花朵、树叶和蝴蝶装饰这些瓷砖。在制作完成后,学术可以把名字写在瓦片上。这些美丽的砖也将在陶艺教室展示。在陶艺课上,学生在老师的引导下,自由的为作品添加自己的想法,让手中的泥土变得有呼吸,有力量,有生命力。

历史揭秘-四大文明古国
Four Ancient Civilizations

The content of the course "Four Ancient Civilizations" in this semester is mainly Chinese ancient history. students learn about the development of Chinese civilization from the Pre-Qin period to the early Han Dynasty (about 2060BC-154BC), including politics, economy, culture and many other aspects.  they also learn the political and institutional history from the Qin Dynasty to the early Han Dynasty. In this part, it is not limited to the presentation of "stories", but focuses on revealing the operation of the imperial state and the basic conditions for its emergence, and strives to understand many basic problems of Chinese civilization in the imperial era by studying the history of Qin and Han Dynasties. This course has a huge knowledge system and rich content. In the course process, teachers' teaching, documentary appreciation, student discussion and other teaching forms are well combined, and students respond well.
本学期《四大文明古国》课程的内容主要为中国古代史。在第一阶段的学习里,同学们学习了先秦至汉王朝初期(约2060BC-154BC)这一时段中国文明的发展历程,包括政治、经济、文化等诸多层次。首先,我以《为什么要学历史》一课作为导论,向同学们阐明历史是什么、学习历史的意义在于何处。进而,我以出土文物为线索,同时领略了先秦时代,亦即传说中的夏朝、商王朝、周王朝的辉煌文明遗产。同时,以历史上知名故事与大国政治关系演变为主线,阐释了春秋战国时代由分裂走向统一的历史大势。在这一部分,专门用两个课时介绍“轴心时代”中国的思想文化遗产,即孔子、老子、墨子、孟子、庄子、商鞅、韩非等思想家的主要思想,力求将他们的思想内涵与现实问题结合呈现,启迪学生对现实的思考。最后,同学们学习了秦至汉初的政治、制度史。在这一部分,不仅局限于“故事”的呈现,而是注重揭示帝制国家的运作及其产生的基本条件,力求通过学习秦汉历史而理解帝制时代中国文明的诸多基本问题。本课程知识体系庞大,内容丰富。

做一名摄影师
Be a photographer

It has been some time since the beginning of the new semester. Our photography class is pleased to have new classmates. These new students are relatively young and very energetic, active thinking with many ideas. All these characteristics lay a favorable foundation for creative photography work, As each student's time and understanding of photography is different, we started with the basic functions of the camera in the students hands, photo imaging principles, using lenses, picture composition, lighting, etc. Starting with the fundamentals, students are on the path to becoming an accomplished photographer. Practice is the best teaching method. Through the practice of photographing helps the students to know how to compose the shot, how to control the use of light, etc. Using the process of taking photos and discussing the reasons for a photograph's success or failure, the students’ photos have achieved good results.
新学期,摄影俱乐部迎来了新的同学,这个班的同学的特点是非常有朝气,思路活跃,想法很多,这是非常好的创作摄影作品的基础,因为每个同学接触摄影的时间长短不一,认知不一。我们从最基本的认识自己手中的照相机开始,照片的成像原理,镜头的使用,画面的构图,光线等等,从最基础的开始讲起,当然光讲这些个不能使同学们成为一个很好的摄影师,实践是最好的教学,在实践的过程中,使同学们认识如何去构图,如何把控光线的使用等等,一边拍摄一边讲解成功和失败的原因,在这方面取得了一个不错的成果。

烘培英语 Baking

It was around Mid-Autumn Festival that class began so we made various flavored moon-cakes together. Every time when we gather, teachers and students talk and work together as a big family. One student commented Wuren (Five nuts filling) which is the teacher's favorite flavor as "old people’s favorite." Several students took their lunch time off to make moon-cakes and they also organized a charity moon-cake sale after school. They raised a total of 423 yuan which was donated to the animal shelter the " Little Adoption Shop," a dog rescue charity based in Beijing.It takes a lot of preparation work to make a fine baked product so we select some desserts that can be finished in 90 minutes, are easy to work with and have a high success rate. We also make sure the food is favored by most students. Almost everyone has loved the chocolate desserts. We've baked chocolate chip cookies, brownies, chocolate muffins, cranberry cupcakes, coconut cookies, cinnamon rolls, apple pies and more.
每周的烘焙课像个小型party,师生们一起制作品尝美味,畅谈人生。开课之初,遇上了中秋节,我们一起做了各种口味的月饼,老师最爱的五仁月饼被学生评论为”你们老年人就爱这个口味的”。有几位学生还在利用午饭时间制作,并在放学后组织了月饼义卖活动,所得全部善款423元捐赠了给流浪狗救助基地“领养小铺”里面需要帮助的动物们。大部分烘培品需要很多前期准备工作,我们精选一些能在90分钟内出成品、操作性强、成功率高,深受学生们喜欢的甜点种类。几乎每个人都对巧克力甜品没有阻抗力,我们先后出品了巧克力豆饼干、布朗尼蛋糕、巧克力麦芬、蔓越莓杯蛋糕、椰子酥条饼干、小肉桂卷饼干、苹果派。有些学生每节课都会主动要求帮助做清洁收尾工作,为了多挣些“烘焙成果”,拿回去分给好朋友或者家人。有一个学生来上课时说烘焙ASA治愈了她一整天的不开心,还有一位学生借用某位老师的话说,“甜点中的糖分分泌多巴胺,使人产生幸福感,吃自己亲手做的甜品幸福感更是倍增。烘培过程的小组作业让学生们收获了友谊,加强了团队协作精神,磨炼了耐心、学会了等待,收获了“甜头”,增强了幸福感,学会了感恩和分享,奉献了爱心,增添了校园生活的多样性和趣味性。

棋盘游戏
Board Games

The Board Games Club is a place where young strategists can hone their craft in an informal setting. We embrace the idea that every planner can benefit from learning about a diverse range of challenges. When we meet, we know that games are meant to be enjoyed, but we also consider how learning about them is an avenue to success. We make a habit of playing and of reflecting on how play can be improved. Our goal is to understand how game theory adds to our knowledge of the world using categories like determinism, probability, known information, and unknown information. After all, we hope, one day, to create elegant and flexible adaptive plans.
We also understand that games are a social experience; they happen not because we wish they would happen but because we take the time to organize groups of people with similar interests. Another habit we embrace is inviting new players to the table. Our goal is to have elastic friend groups which can add members without friction. The informal atmosphere helps us to address matters of conduct and sportsmanship. We know we need to find our strengths. To do so is a decidedly and dedicatedly unsystematic endeavor, but it also requires relationships.
棋盘游戏俱乐部,是清香最受欢迎的俱乐部之一。同学们通过参与桌游,尝试和体验不同规则的游戏。棋盘游戏具有不确定性,可能前进,也可能倒退,但也正是这种不确定性,给孩子们带来了无尽的乐趣。

校合唱团
ASA Choir

We have 10 students currently on the roster. But in the meanwhile, it also means that our current students have more opportunities for one-on-one coaching which has made their voice better. And thus, our students can sing more confidently.
After half a semester’s study, students now have
(1) Learned to sing in a scientific way by mastering the Crusoe breathing method
(2) Improved the ability of music reading, sight-singing, sound recognition, and music appreciation and expression
(3) Improved concentration and cooperation
(4) Been able to sing two two-part choral pieces (“Greetings for All Seasons” and “Daylily Flowers”)
(5) Been able to perform at Christmas Show with another vocal class.
本学期,校合唱团一共有10名同学参加。课程侧重于集体和1对1的指导。通过第一阶段的学习,学生掌握了:
  • 通过掌握克鲁索呼吸法,学会科学歌唱
  • 提高读谱、视唱、识音、音乐欣赏与表达能力
  • 提高专注度和协作度
  • 会唱两首两声部合唱作品(《四季的问候》和《黄花菜》)
  • 同时,学生也将与其他声乐班一起参加圣诞演出上表演。

音乐剧
Musical

The asa of musical theater has high comprehensive requirements for students' performance, dance and singing. In the first week, students had a musical appreciation to understand what a musical is and how we should conduct training and rehearsal. In the first stage, I learned the basis of lines and stage performance, including voice position, voice system, voice state explanation, combination of vocal and oral exercises to enhance the strength of lips and tongue, stage orientation and stage etiquette, eye training, and ancient salute way explanation. In addition, it also carries on the appreciation of Su Shi's poems and the archetypes of historical figures closely related to him. Music and poetry appreciation mainly analyzed the works "Ding storm · Mo listen to the sound of beating leaves through the forest", "butterfly love flower · Spring scene", "Dongpo meat".
音乐剧课程对学生的表演、舞蹈、演唱都有着较高的综合性要求,学生第一周进行了音乐剧的赏析,了解什么是音乐剧,我们应该如何进行训练和排练。在第一阶段的学习里,学习了台词和舞台表演基础:发声位置、发声系统、发声状态讲解、音律口部操组合-增强唇舌力度、舞台方位及舞台礼仪、眼神训练以及古人行礼方式讲解。此外,还进行了苏轼的诗词赏析和他息息相关的各位历史人物原型;音乐及诗词赏析主要分析了作品《定风波·莫听穿林打叶声》、《蝶恋花·春景》、《东坡肉》。

AMC8竞赛辅导/ AMC8 Tutoring

The AMC8 competition tutoring course is mainly designed for students in grades G6-G8. In each class, students will make a set of AMC8 questions, and the teacher will lead the students to discuss and solve the difficult questions.Most students are interested in doing AMC8. For G6 students, they have not yet learned the knowledge points of algebra, but they have been exposed to the skills of algebraic thinking and algebraic operation by doing the problems of AMC8. During class discussions, students sit together to find clever ways to solve problems and gain confidence.
Through the first stage of learning, it was found that the students could not read the questions or understand the meaning of the questions accurately because of their young age and English level. This problem will be solved gradually with the increase of the number of questions and the improvement of the English level.This school year's AMC8 competition is in January 2023. Before the competition, we can finish more than ten sets of real questions in the class after class, which will be of great help to students to give their best performance.
The purpose of AMC8 after-class classes is to help students expand their knowledge of mathematics and further develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This lesson is suitable for students who want to learn more than the classroom.
AMC8竞赛辅导课程的设置主要针对G6-G8年级的同学。每次课,学生都会做一套AMC8的真题,老师会带领同学们一起讨论、解决其中比较难的题目。大多数学生对做AMC8题目比较感兴趣。对于G6的同学来说,还没有学习代数的知识点,他们通过做AMC8的题接触到了代数的思维和代数运算的技巧。课堂讨论的时候,同学们同坐寻找巧妙的解题方法,收获自信。通过第一阶段的学习,发现学生因为年龄小和英语程度的关系,存在读不懂题或者对题意理解不够准确。这个问题,随着做题数量的增加和英文程度的提升,会逐渐得到解决。这学年的AMC8比赛是在2023年的一月。比赛之前,我们在课后课上就能做完十套以上真题,这对学生发挥自己最好的水平会有很大帮助。AMC8课后课的目的是帮助学生拓展数学学习的知识面,有利于学生进一步发展批判性思维和解题技巧。本课适合想学到课堂以外知识的学生。

AMC10竞赛辅导/ AMC10 Tutoring

The AMC10/12 after-school class in the first stage of the semester is primarily organized as a free-response and one-on-one lecture format. Students spend most of each class period working independently or in small groups on previous years' AMC10 problems. During the problem solving process, students can always raise their hands and ask the teacher questions if they encounter words they don't know, questions they can't comprehend, or get stuck in their thinking. The reason why we did not lecture as a whole in the first stage was that the students' background knowledge in mathematics and English were not at the same level, so we needed to let some of them experience the style and format of AMC problems first, and at the same time improve the speed and correctness of the higher level students. Also, two practice exams were given in the first stage to give students an idea of their current level in the form of completely independent questions.
The second phase of the AMC10/12 after-school class will add some topic-based topics to the free-response questions. Also for students who meet the AMC12 application age, they will be given AMC12 corresponding practice questions.
本学期第一阶段的AMC10/12课后课的形式主要以自由答题和一对一讲解为主。每节课的大部分时间都由学生独立或以小组为单位完成往年的AMC10真题。在解题过程中,学生如果遇到不认识的单词、读不懂的题,或者思路遇到瓶颈,都可以随时举手向老师提问。之所以在第一阶段没有采用集体授课的形式,是考虑到学生的数学和英语背景知识不在同一水平,需要先让一部分同学感受AMC的出题形式,同时提高高水平同学的解题速度和正确率。同时,在第一阶段还进行了两次模考,以完全独立做题的形式,让同学们了解自己当前阶段的水平。第二阶段的AMC10/12课后课将在自由答题的基础上添加一些专题类题目的讲解。同时对于符合AMC12报考年龄的同学,也会给予AMC12对应的练习题。

黑客密码/Hacking Ciphers

Hacking Ciphers ASA started with exploring the famous MORSE Code, where students learned how to encrypt and decrypt messages. Then afterwards, students were challenged to design their variation of the MORSE Code and encrypt a message which then was exchanged with other students for hacking.
After setting up a foundational understanding of encryption and decryption, students were taken back into the history of where famous military general Julius Caesar. Students learned how he managed to send encrypted messages to the kingdom and was able to communicate secretively by protecting the message content. In parallel, students were taught foundational Python Programming concepts, leading to writing code that can perform Caesar Cipher Encryption and Decryption. That said, students started their coding journey by incrementally writing and improving their code to complete the secretive encryption and decryption algorithms. In the end, the student used their newly developed programming skills to write a Brute Force Hacking attack on the Caesar Cipher, which led to cracking the cipher and revealing the actual message.
Afterwards, the journey continues towards the modern era of the 20th century, where new complex encryption strategies were developed and led towards the creation of transpositional ciphers. Students are currently exploring the cipher and simultaneously learning new and advanced python programming concepts, which will be utilised to create the encryption and decryption algorithm of the cipher.

写实绘画基础
Fundamentals of Realistic Painting

As the name implies, "Realistic Painting Foundation" is designed to provide basic skills reserve for children learning painting, so I first arranged sketch geometry for training. Geometry is almost all learning to draw children must take a course, seemingly simple, in fact, there is a lot of inside. Composition, proportion, perspective, virtual and real, volume and space in painting. Almost all sketch language is reflected in the geometry, which can reflect the ability of the painter very much.  “写实绘画基础”顾名思义,是给学习绘画的孩子做基础技能储备的,所以我首先安排了素描几何体进行训练。几何体几乎是所有学画画的孩子们必上的一门课,看似简单,其实里面大有门道。绘画中的构图、比例、透视、虚实、体积、空间。几乎所有的素描语言都在几何体中得以体现,非常能反映绘画者的能力。在接下来的学习中,将进行色彩原理和色彩静物写生的训练,也希望孩子们能坚持不懈的学习,真正打牢绘画所需要的各种能力。

Programming camp

We have been running the coding course for 7 weeks now. We’ve learned the basic syntax of C++ programming language, and learned about input & output, variables, precision control, mathematical formulas, data types, ASCII codes, conditional judgments, branch nesting, logical operations, trinomial operations, switch statements, etc. As a competition course, the depth and width of learning content is much greater than the regular programming class. And the questions of the programming exercises are all available at http://oj.thisdlit.cn. Students who complete each class exercise carefully and with high quality are sure to make great progress. I am also very impressed by the positive thinking and serious attitude these students showed in class. Of course, I would like to ask those students who have not received any praise for the time being to keep up the good work. While listening and thinking carefully in class, you must not forget to clear the obstacles to knowledge in time and to ask questions if you do not understand. You are welcome to ask questions, and I will be happy to help you solve your problems. We hope that you will work hard and gain more knowledge in the coming lessons!

未来之城/ Future City

From the formation of the Future City team to now, we have completed the city proposal to be built in 100 years and produced a good city description paper and project plan through a collaborative approach. During these 7 weeks of communication, learning and brainstorming, the students have reviewed a lot of literature and generated very good ideas. Through collaborative learning, we were able to put our ideas together and finalize the city building proposal. During this process, we were fortunate to have invited Mr. Wang Lei, a national-level architect and a published architectural design expert, as well as Mingshuai Pan and Chunxi Zhao, professors and PhDs in architecture from the university, to give very in-depth lectures and guidance to the students. The students also continued to learn about urban design, understand the history of the new Loulan City we are going to build, and keep exploring the frontier knowledge of engineering, science, humanities, technology and other disciplines. Next, we will move on to the second phase, which is the very interesting, but particularly level-testing, model-making session. The Future City activities especially require teamwork and the contribution of each student through active participation. So far, the students are very enthusiastic about learning and participating, and we hope that they will continue to maintain their love for the project and continue to devote themselves to the attempt of making beautiful models. We also hope that parents will support this enthusiasm of your children more and give them care and encouragement on the way forward. We look forward to the students eventually giving the best performance of THISDL in the competition.
从未来之城队伍组建到现在,我们已经完成了100年后要建设的城市方案,并通过合作的方式制作好了城市描述论文和项目计划书。在这7周的交流、学习和头脑风暴中,同学们查阅了大量文献资料,也产生了非常好的点子。大家通过协同学习的方式,将各自的想法进行汇总,并最终形成了城市建设方案。在这个过程中,我们有幸邀请到了国家一级建筑师,著作等身的建筑设计大咖王磊老师,以及大学建筑专业的教授及博士潘明率和赵春喜老师为同学们作了非常有深度的讲座和指导。同学们也在一次次课程中不断学习城市设计的知识,了解我们要建设的新楼兰城的历史,不断探索工程、科学、人文、技术等学科的前沿知识。接下来,我们将进入到第二阶段,也就是非常有趣,但又特别考验水平的模型制作环节。未来之城的活动特别需要团队协作,也要求每一个学生通过积极参与,贡献自己的力量。目前,同学们的学习和参与热情很高,希望大家继续保持对项目的热爱,继续投身到做出精美模型的尝试中。

MUN,Model United Nations Club, for first time in forever, MUN pronounced like “Dream” in Mandarin. Model United Nations Club, that’s where you’re one inch away to your dream.In the past 7 weeks, we had a detailed discussion about the two essences of MUN, Introduction of United Nations & Model United Nations and Rules of Procedures of Model United Nations.The following three lectures are about Rules of Procedures of Model United Nations. What rules should diplomats follow on the United Nations stage? What rules should we follow to discuss and solve international problems? Through the detailed study of these lessons, we all know how to formally demonstrate yourself as a delegate in the MUN activities.In the following lectures, we will further discuss the Academic Writing and Academic Research. We will be digging more into the magical world of the Model United Nations.

English Debate

This course will start with the different forms of debate and then explore the terminology, structure and characteristics of speech and debate, presented in a fun and easy way to develop children's skills and confidence to become good orators. During the course, we will go from simple topics to deeper ones such as: social issues, school life, political discussions, environmental issues, scientific issues, etc., from which children will understand the confrontational nature of debates.In the past course, we have explained the American debate, from the opening debate at the beginning to the crossfires later on, the students practiced for each part. Students were free to express their opinions in the class, and different ideas collided with each other.
本课程将从辩论的不同形式切入,进而探讨演讲与辩论的术语、结构和特点开始,以简单有趣的方式呈现,培养孩子成为优秀演说家的技能和信心。在课程中,我们将由浅入深,从简单的话题不断深入比如:社会问题、学校生活、政治讨论、环境问题、科学问题等等,从中让孩子们理解辩论的对抗性。在过去的课程中,我们对于美式辩论进行了讲解,从最开始的开篇辩论,到后面的自由辩论,学生都针对于每一个环节进行了练习。学生在课上自由的发挥自己的观点,不同的思想之间激烈的碰撞。我们相信,在之后的课程中,学生将会更进一步地对辩论的技巧与核心理念进行理解。

Yearbook 设计与制作
Yearbook Design

The course established a "small press group for the campus sports meeting" as part of the lesson on material collecting, and students took an active part in it. This unit's independent learning assignment required students to learn quick photography and interview script editing. To get to the bustling sports scene, students weave past the sports meeting. After the sports conference, we sifted through enough interview texts while holding an iPad in one hand for one-on-one interviews. It has prepared the necessary raw materials for the formation of the "Yearbook" in the future while also developing the observational skills, prognostication skills, and courage of the students.The course will then concentrate on the unique resources of each student and attempt to create a sports chapter for their "Yearbook" using components like photo clipping, text authoring, etc. 
“Yearbook”设计是一门针对性较强的综合类课程,课程的主旨是围绕设计“Yearbook”展开的。学生会学习杂志设计所需要的文字编辑、图片编辑、排版、采访、资料搜集等一系列知识。在“Yearbook”课程中,最重要的是让学生学习如何寻找、归纳、总结、提炼所需要设计“Yearbook”的元素。从收集素材开始初探书籍成型的历程,从素材的采集、分析、整理,再到进行图文排版,学习图文对话,尝试用文字配合图片,图片说明文字的书籍编辑内容。在素材收集的单元中,课程专门设置了“校园运动会小记者团”,学生也非常地踊跃参加。学生通过学习即时摄影,编排采访文稿,自己独立完成了本单元活动。学生在运动会上穿梭,寻找生动活泼的运动会场面。手举Ipad进行一对一采访,并在运动会结束后,整理了充分的采访文稿。为后来创作“Yearbook”打下了充足的素材基础、同时也锻炼了学生观察、预知事情发展和勇气的能力。

创意色彩
Creative Colour

This asa aims to let students enjoy the beauty of design and then introduce it to the palace of design. By establishing two cores of graphic inventiveness and color, students' creativity is trained. Learning graphics, a crucial component of design and a vehicle for creativity and expression, is a prerequisite to learning design. In order to fulfill the goals of communication, communication, and gaining consensus among individuals, graphic language, also known as employing graphics to create a "silent language," is used.
Students can discover that more than 60%, sometimes more, of the knowledge in our thoughts comes from visual perception by comparing words and figures. Learning how to convey ideas visually is quite intuitive and can directly access the more perceptive part of the brain where judgment is made through vision. 
创意色彩先让学生领略设计的魅力,带进设计的殿堂。通过图形创意和色彩构成两大核心,训练学生的创意能力。学习设计需要先学习图形,图形是构成设计的重要原素,是创意和表达的载体。图形语言,即用图形来创造一种“无声的语言”,用图形来进行人与人之间的交流,以达到传播、沟通的目的,获得人们的共识。在介绍了图形语言的历史,进行系统化的学习,发现从原始社会人类祖先凭借着本能,把自然现象和自然生态的变化,以及他们在征服自然过程中的感受通过单纯的、象征的图形记录在洞穴中和岩壁上,这就是图形用视觉传达活动的最早开始。
通过强化图形的概念,使学生认识图形是一种视觉符号,它是介于文字与美术之间的视觉传达形式,图形创意的思维方式是建立一幅画面的基础,经过直觉思维、发散思维、集中思维、逆向思维、类比思维的学习,基本建立了创意的思维构架。

VLOG clipping

The first phase of Vlog video clip ASA has been completed. In this stage, we systematically learned Vlog common sense, shooting equipment, basic shooting skills, software operation, post editing skills, communication skills and other related knowledge. From the beginning of the lesson, students can learn from the simple to the deep until they can make their own Vlog.
During the ASA, we also learned a lot of excellent Vlog from website, from which we extracted all the elements that an excellent Vlog should have. During the National Day holiday, students also shot a lot of life materials and used them in their own Vlog clips. During this period, many excellent student works were produced.
The students enjoyed the process of filming and making Vlogs. I’m so proud of their dedication, modesty and eagerness of learning. They will also look forward to mastering more professional knowledge and producing more excellent works in the second phase of the study.
Vlog视频剪辑课程目前已完成第一期。在这一阶段中,我们系统性地学习了Vlog常识、拍摄器材、基本拍摄技巧、软件操作、后期剪辑技巧、传播技巧等多个领域的相关知识。学生从开学初的零基础,通过由浅入深地学习,直到能够制作出属于自己的Vlog生活影片。
课程过程中,我们还学习了大量优秀Vlog影片,从中提炼出优秀影片应具备的各个要素。国庆假期,学生们也拍摄了大量生活素材,并用于自己的影片剪辑中。期间也产生了不少优秀的学生作品。
学生们很享受拍摄及制作Vlog这一个过程,他们的专注、谦虚和好学,令老师颇为感动。我们也将期待着在第二期的学习中,掌握更多专业知识,产出更多优秀作品。

围棋/Weiqi

The Weiqi club mainly teach basic knowledge and rules of Go, and cultivate the awareness of obeying the rules; through the development of group activities, children are stimulated observation ability, positive thinking, and the ability to challenge.In the first stage of study, students first learned the origin and rules of Weiqi, as well as the etiquette of Weiqi. Combined with the story of Danzhu, the godson of Yaozao Weiqi, students elaborated the history of Weiqi and explained the benefits of learning Weiqi. The curriculum introduces the basic rules of Weiqi in combination with the children's favorite animation plots: black comes first, white comes later, the falling piece takes root, the piece 9 falls on the crossing point, Qi, Qi out and so on. Through actual combat practice, let the children in the actual combat to explore, master the method of eating and fun, encourage careful observation.
围棋社团的开设主要让学生了解围棋的基础知识和规则,培养遵守规则的意识;通过小组活动的开展,激发孩子们善于观察,积极思考,勇于挑战的能力,培养学生的专注力、空间想象力、逻辑思维能力。在第一阶段的学习中,首先学习了围棋的起源和规则,围棋礼仪,结合尧造围棋教子丹朱的故事阐述围棋的历史由来,讲述学围棋的益处。课程设置结合孩子们喜爱的动画情节讲述围棋基本规则:黑先白后、落子生根、棋子9落于交叉点、气、气尽提子等。通过实战练习,让孩子在实战中摸索、掌握吃子的方法和乐趣,鼓励仔细观察,多动脑筋。

校舞蹈团/School dance troupe

本学期第一期舞蹈社团课程内容是基本功训练和中国古典舞《采薇》舞蹈剧目排练。一、基本功训练重点是软开度和基本技巧。
训练内容:
1.软开度:压前旁后腿;开肩、胯;
2.大跳训练:移动错步;把杆劈叉跳;
3.平转训练:留甩头、脚下行进转。
二、剧目《采薇》排练:
汉唐舞蹈《采薇》是舞剧《孔子》的一个片段。展示了汉唐舞蹈“翘袖折腰”的优美舞姿。通过舞蹈剧目的排练让学生们充分感受中国古典舞蹈的特点与韵律。
该剧目分为六部分舞段,每各舞段教授1-2节课,目前已学习三个舞段。
第一段:基本步法、甩袖舞姿;间奏舞姿;第二段:中间舞段、流动踏地舞段;第三段:快板间奏舞段。
 第一期舞蹈社团课程共7次课,是以健康、科学、快乐为基准,分为基础训练和舞蹈剧目训练。基础训练分为中间和把杆训练,主要拉伸柔韧性,加强腿部肌肉能力,以及基本旋转技巧练习。学生们在基础训练部分完成较好,基本可以达到一定软度,少部分软度需要加强。旋转技巧与跳跃是我们下期课程的重点训练内容。第二部分舞蹈剧目训练是选取《孔子》舞剧片段《采薇》舞蹈,该剧目能够让学生充分感受中国古典汉唐舞蹈的的风格韵律,体会汉唐舞姿的美。学习过程中学生们对动作和节奏掌握很好,在舞姿与韵律方面还需要加强。本期课程整体完成较好,期待下期继续与孩子们一起学习一起感受中国古典舞的美。

打击乐/Jazz Drum

The main course content of ASA Jazz Class this semester includes systematic learning of snare drum and jazz drum.

长笛/Flute

长笛课的开展分别在星期一和星期二下午,课程采用集体一对多的形式,根据不同程度的学生制定不同的学习内容,零基础的孩子学习了吹笛头,并根据进度的快慢学习了指法并练习了音阶,有基础的孩子根据自身的水平和要求,有教学长笛考级内容(音阶 练习曲 曲子)乐团排练曲目和学校外的长笛课回课作业陪练。在接下来的课程中将在练好基本功的同时重心放在乐曲的学习,为孩子在学校的展演上有可以演出的作品而做准备。

在第一阶段的学习里,孩子们学习了武术的一些基本功法,如:基本手型(拳、掌、勾手),基本手法(冲拳、推掌、平臂勾手),基本步型(马步、弓步、朴步),基本步法(进步,撤步),基本腿法(正踢腿),以及专项体能,协调,柔韧等练习。
在刚开始的课堂上,孩子们在自我管理方面比较差,上课的注意力集中时间比较短,经过几周的练习后,现在孩子们在整堂课中的参与度都很高,而且对武术动作的掌握速度快了很多。接下来的课程中,会在规范孩子已学动作的同时逐步增加新的学习内容。

ASA足球课程内容为基础带球,二人基础传球,中长传球,一对一防守和足球感统训练,学生精神面貌很高,学习兴趣浓厚,而对于学生的水平有所不同的情况,采取了分段教学和差异化要求。成体系、成系统的教学,使同学们都有了满满的收获。足球兴趣课同学们训练态度端正,每个人都很好的融入集体,球感球性也在训练中得到了提高,足球校队的同学们对于重点和难点的技能掌握有很大提升,在训练中慢慢找到自己合适的位置,为校队比赛打下了良好的基础。

Students have a positive attitude on life and a keen interest in education. However, segmented instruction and differentiated standards are used when students' levels are different. 队员们一直保持着良好的训练状态,对待消耗较大的训练内容也可以以良好的意志品质坚持下来,基本功训练不怕枯燥,认真训练,每个队员都有一定程度的提升。兴趣班的队员们通过小组传球配合充分体验到了团队运动中最重要的团结互助,在棒球比赛中也培养出了较大的棒球兴趣。

在课程中,从击剑运动刚开始的实战姿势和进攻防守动作,到进阶的进攻出手、进攻步法、弓步,再到后来的少量防守反击。无论是哪个年级的学生,都有着突飞猛进的变化,初中年级学生已经能在实战训练中表现的游刃有余。总的来说,课堂教学效果稳步提升,学生共性与个性问题均在减少,场馆基础设施建设也越来越完善,击剑项目发展蒸蒸日上。

尊巴/Zumba

在第一期尊巴ASA课程中,学生学习了6段尊巴套路,多数同学可以跟随音乐的伴奏完整的将套路跳下来。在学习过程中提高了身体的协调性和灵敏度。较高年级的学生可以在课程中保持专注,跟随老师的指导完成课程内容,学生们在原来的基础上有了进一步的提高,使学生在学习过程中感到愉快,养成了锻炼身体的习惯。

The body's sensitivity and coordination are enhanced during the learning process. Senior students can maintain their concentration in the class and follow the teacher's instructions to finish the course material. On the original foundation, the kids have further improved, which encourages them to enjoy their education and form a habit of exercising.

水球/Water polo

水球运动趣味性强,水球运动的基础是游泳。与此同时,由于水球运动员必须依靠团队队员之间的配合才能顺利得分,这也让同学们了解了团队合作的重要性。同学们在水球课后课上学习了更多水球运动技巧,比如踩水、水中传球、打门等水球专项技术。通过水球运动的课后课,同学们展现出的团队合作意识、拼搏意识和对抗精神,非常出色。

羽毛球校队的队员们一直保持着良好的训练状态,在意志品质方面,每节课认真完成规定任务,对待一些新的步伐训练,以及球性训练,可以不惧困难,敢于尝试,自主练习,积极发挥调动了主观能动性,整体同学训练积极性高,队内同学之间积极鼓励,互相帮助,体验课上带给他们的自信与乐趣。在技能水平方面,队员分别掌握了前后场的步伐,以及平抽,高远球,正反手挑球动作,可以规范的合理的把动作细节做到,并且可以积极主动检查自己的动作问题及时改正。中学羽毛球兴趣班,同学们七周以来在技术当面得到了很大的提升,在动作的完成度,以及细节上做到了很大的改进,通过多球,及平常的动作练习使大部分同学动作进入分化阶段,还需进一步的多加练习,才能达到在比赛中,在平常的单球对打中完成自动化阶段,同学们上课表现积极乐观,可以认真思考动作的方法,体验到了羽毛球中获得乐趣,养成了勤于思考,积极乐观的态度。

冲浪/Surfing

室内冲浪是一项新兴极限运动,所有同学在训练过程中不怕失误摔倒造成的疼痛,大家为了掌握好此项技能都表现出了迎难而上不怕苦难的优良品质。中学同学趴板已经完全掌握,部分同学已经站板可以坚持在浪上20秒左右,正在学习不同的上浪动作。
Indoor surfing is a new extreme activity, and none of the pupils are terrified of the pain produced by mistakes and falls during practise. To develop this skill, everyone demonstrated the exceptional characteristic of facing problems and not being scared of hardship. Middle school children have entirely mastered board-throwing, and some have stood on the board and can stay on the waves for around 20 seconds. They are learning various wave-climbing techniques.

跆拳道/Taekwondo

前七周的跆拳道训练结束了,我们首先规范了同学们的课堂要求,在跆拳道中我们要首先要‘知礼 懂礼’,上课前要对老师行礼,上课中要注意听老师讲的动作要领,潜移默化的让学生懂得尊重,上课尊重老师,平时尊重家长和长辈。其次,我们主要练习了一些跆拳道的基本功,其中包括:正踢腿,离合腿,外摆腿。柔韧性练习有:弓步压腿,侧压腿,横叉,竖叉等。腿法练习有:前踢腿,横踢腿。最后,还进行了实战训练,同学们都出乎意料的勇敢,很多同学都爱上了实战课。

射击ASA兴趣课已经过去七周时间总共分为三个阶段,逐步递进射击专项射击知识,射击技巧,以及抗压能力提高。第一阶段射击技术最基本的三点一线瞄准以有依托射击训练,重点体会击发瞄准。第二阶段从有依托训练过度到无依托射击,根据同学们的年龄以及身体素质情况展开无依托标准射击动作进行训练。第三阶段;在击发瞄准、自然击发扣扳机为课堂主线,增加专项力量提高枪支稳定性。高中生训练效果显著提升较快。初中生技能掌握较快,但枪支稳定性较差,还需多加锻炼。

本学期的体育舞蹈ASA课程进度包括体育舞蹈理论知识、拉丁舞基本动作技术、拉丁舞专项素质三部分内容。其中理论知识包括体育舞蹈概念、舞种类别、舞蹈风格、音乐节奏的学习掌握;拉丁舞基本动作技术包括基本站姿、基本手位、恰恰舞变化手位、恰恰原地换重心、恰恰时间步的学习掌握,并进行了动作足法、手位、身体位置、音乐节奏的细化处理和纠正;专项素质包括个人平衡力、协调性以及速度素质的训练提高;此外,课程逐渐加入了双人配合训练,通过与舞伴搭手练习,能够有效提高学生的协作能力,助其巩固动作技术,并从中进一步感知体育舞蹈的项目特征。
