RAILWAY PROJECT IN EAST AFRICA
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was established in 1979 under the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. In 2003, the company underwent strategic reorganization and was merged into China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), listed among the world’s top 100 international contractors for 19 consecutive years by the Engineering News Record.
Ever since the 1960s when CCECC contracted the largest foreign aid project--Tanzania-Zambia Railway, CCECC has established subsidiaries, branch offices or project management headquarters in 105 countries and regions, spreading across Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Oceania. Among the more than 12,000km of international railroads built by Chinese enterprises so far, more than 8,000km has been constructed by CCECC and becomes well-known in the industry as the pioneer for the “going global” of Chinese railways.

Description
Tanzania-Zambia Railway, 1,860km in length, is one of the largest foreign-aid projects conducted by the Chinese government up to now. It starts from Dar es Salaam, the largest city of Tanzania in the east and reaches Kapri Mopshi of Zambia in the west. . The project commenced in October 1970 and was completed in July 1976. After project handover, we have continued cooperation on the Tanzania-Zambia Railway by providing technical services in 16 phases.

TANZANIA 140 KM TRACK RENEWAL PROJECT ON CENTRAL LINE
Complete track renewal of 140 km of track from Km463.8 to Km515 and from Km730 to Km819 between Dodoma and Tabora stations on Central Line, including level crossings, bridge timber renewal, renewal of turnouts, ballasting to provide proper cushion and shoulders, repairs to cess, formation, provision of adequate cross and longitudinal drainage, realignment of curves, packing and aligning the track to proper line and level using pre-fabricated panel system of renewal.

RELAYING RAILWAY TRACK KITARAKA
K641-MALONGWE K730 (89KM) , TANZANIA
By improving the track to long welded rails (1km), the operation speed is improved to 70km/h from 30km/h.
This is a contract for relaying of 89km of railway track of the central line between Kitaraka (km 641) and Malongwe (km 730) stations. The project contains 77km for relaying sleepers and rails with the new 24m and 801b/yd gauges and 8 sets of 1000mm timber sleepers for turnouts. The whole track of 89km is tamped by a heavy duty tamping machine, welded by thermit welding and de-stressed to keep the renewed track to be formed by long welded rails.

RELAYING RAILWAY TRACK KITARAKA
K641-MALONGWE K730 (89KM), TANZANIA
The Central Railway Rehabilitation Project starts from Dar es Salaam, and ends at Isaka in the west, with a total length of 985 km, crossing 6 regions of Tanzania and 57 Railway Stations.The running speed has been increased from the original 30 km/h to 70 km/h after converting the line to continuous welded rails, and the quality and safety of the line have been highly improved.
The work scope of the project consists of track and structure rehabilitation. The main construction contents include the provision of track materials, ballast, Complete Track Renewal, Welding, Destressing, Ballast Acquisition and Tamping, etc. It is the first time for the central line to adopt the Continuous Welded Rails (CWR) to the whole line in meter gauge railway, which greatly improves the operation quality of the line.

DESIGN AND BUILD OF STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY (SGR) LINE FROM MWANZA TO ISAKA (Lot 5), Tanzania
The works involves the design and build of new railway line consisting of earthworks, elevated structure, culverts, tunnels, viaduct, permanent way, stations, buildings and electrification systems of the standard gauge (1,435 mm) railway line from Mwanza to Isaka (249 kilometres main line and 92 kilometres siding/Passing loops) on an alignment parallel to the existing meter gauge railway.
