ACROBiosystems and VelaVigo Enter Strategic Collaboration to Provide Full-Process Solutions to Accelerate Drug Development to Market

Recently, ACROBiosystems and VelaVigo signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Both parties highly recognize each other's business potential and sustainable value as global strategic partners and will make full use of their respective strengths to establish strategic cooperation covering multiple business ecosystems on a global scale.

ACROBiosystems has a rich pipeline of key biological reagents and customized services for analytical assays and proteins, with six technology platforms including membrane proteins, fluorescently labeled proteins, enzymology, etc., and a strict quality management system. Its business radiates globally, with coverage in major countries and regions, and a well-developed sales network. It has set up three major logistics and warehousing centers in Asia, Europe, and North America, with a mature logistics system. It also has the advantages of diversified resources, capital strength and other advantages.

With drug discovery as the driving force of innovation, VelaVigo focuses on the world's leading innovations of new targets, technologies, novel drug models, and clinical strategies. It targets at macromolecule-related technologies, including dual-antibodies, monoclonal-antibodies, ADCs, and new molecule types, and conducts in-depth research and development in the four areas of cancer, autoimmune, ophthalmology, and neurodegenerative diseases.

ACROBiosystems will provide a range of solutions for VelaVigo's key bio-reagent products and services for the drug discovery process; VelaVigo will provide strong support to ACROBiosystems for product development, validation and translation. The two companies will also leverage their respective technology leadership to jointly research and develop a range of key bioreagents and services that are critical to emerging biotechnologies and trends, in drug discovery and development, manufacturing, and clinical testing, to meet market needs.

Founded in October 2021 by Dr. Li Jing, a senior scientist in the industry, VelaVigo is a China-based, globally oriented new drug discovery and development company. The company aspires to use disease biology as the foundation and drug discovery as the innovation engine, focusing on new technologies related to macromolecules, including dual/multiple antibodies, ADCs and new molecule types. It aims to establish a complete system that fully covers the value chain of innovative medicines, including the construction of a new technology platform for drug discovery, CMC development, translational science, clinical development, and commercialization of the complete capabilities. Green Travel, Ride for Fun" Riding Activity

On September 2, ACRO held a cycling activity in the extension of the Hundred Miles Landscape Painting Corridor. The theme of this activity was "Green Travel, Ride for Fun". More than 40 cyclists from various departments gathered to cycle in their spare time to show the spirit of hard work and courage. They had a wonderful experience cycling among the green mountains and waters.

The 2023 "ACROBiosystems Cup" Peking University Badminton and Table Tennis Welcome Tournament officially started on September 17 and 24, 2023, with the participation of students from the College of Life Sciences of Peking University (including undergraduate and graduate students), graduate students from the CLS Program of the Institute of Frontier Interdisciplinary Research, graduate students from the PTN Program, graduate students from the College of Future Technology, graduate students from the College of Modern Agriculture, and so on. The tournament was held in the spirit of "the spirit of the game". With the belief of "exchanging skills and improving relationship", this tournament provides a stage for students and enterprises to relax and show themselves after heavy study, which makes the academic life more fulfilling.

On September 13, 2023, Mr. Hongliang Peng of the QA department led 33 cross-departmental project members to promote data attribution and lean management through the application and practice of the Eight-Disciplines process. Through the “toast” case study and other case analysis, the course vividly explained the optimization process of lean management and helped the team learn how to continuously improve/optimize the process specification. This practice would systematically solve issues and challenges derived from the operation.

On September 21, 2023, Ms. Alice Qin brought the course "Time and Energy Management" to Acro Beijing. She introduced many time management tricks, methods, techniques, and efficiency tools and taught participant how to manage their time well, increase productivity, and contribute to the competitiveness of the whole enterprise.

The US team gathered for a productive retreat in Newark, DE, engaging in group meetings and collaborative brainstorming sessions. The atmosphere shifted to a more relaxed mode with karaoke, fostering team bonding. An outdoor picnic featured games and food, which added a fun and refreshing aspect to the event, creating a well-rounded and memorable experience for everyone. Q3 Quarterly Rotation for Trainees

The Q3 quarterly rotation of trainees has been successfully completed. This was the first rotation of this year's trainees. Let's take a look at what we have gained and learned in the three months of July-September.

After designing test plans for different experimental samples, carrying out flow cytometry, analyzing the test data, concluding the experiment, and providing reports.

There are two main types of test samples: one with its own fluorescent markers can be detected directly. The other without fluorescent markers indicated the appropriate fluorescent labeled antibodies.

Sharing the process flow of conventional VLP production:

Conventional VLP purification processes have different purposes and purification which focus on different stages:

a) Optimization of VLP & wnt3a process.

b) Exploration of Biotin-VLP technology; Expansion of different fluorescent proteins application in membrane proteins.

c) Expression of CCR family proteins represented by CCR8 in mammalian cells.

d) Investigation of exosomes, nanomembrane particles and lentiviral expression membrane protein platforms.

In these past three months, we have transformed from students to office workers, working and contributing to the work within ACRO. This experience has benefited us a lot. We have gained a better understanding of the ACRO’s operation and specific work content by experiencing the whole process of product development from R&D to manufacturing. This process educated the team with the necessary knowledge to work in various aspects.

In our work, we encountered many new challenges and problems, but through continuous learning and practice, we gradually mastered relevant knowledge and skills and honed our ability to complete work tasks independently. These skills play an important role in promoting our career development.

At the same time, this period has also made us deeply aware of the importance of time management and communication skills. In the monthly multi-reading and sharing sessions, we gained much from exchanging thoughts and sharing insights after reading The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and Nonviolent Communication. Under the intense working environment, we learned 

Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our mentors and colleagues, whose guidance and assistance enabled us to adapt to the new working environment quickly. They patiently answered our questions and shared their experience and knowledge, helping us to make progress in our work.
