On October 25, 2023, "ACROBiosystems and EMBIOS (Beijing) Biotechnology Co., Ltd ("EMBIOS ") held a signing ceremony for their strategic cooperation at ACROBiosystems' headquarters in Beijing. After the ceremony, EMBIOS observed all processes of ACROBiosystems' protein production, and the two sides also discussed the details of strategic cooperation.

EMBIOS specializes in the mechanistic and molecular research and development of immune-related diseases and is committed to developing FIRST-IN-CLASS immune dysregulation therapeutics targeting lymphocytes. ACROBiosystems is committed to providing innovative products and solutions to overcome the challenges of the entire process of biopharmaceutical research, development, manufacturing, and clinic. We will fully leverage our strengths in core reagent technologies and product services to provide EMBIOS with all-round support from target discovery, performance validation, production quality control, preclinical and clinical trials, and other needs. Both parties will also cooperate in new technology platforms, results translation, etc., in order to help drug R&D innovation and iterative optimization of immune-based diseases, and work together to contribute to human health."

ACROBiosystems will provide a series of solutions to EMBIOS in key bio-reagent products and services, which are necessary for EMBIOS to carry out biopharmaceutical R&D, manufacturing, clinical research and to go public. The key bio-reagent products and services include catalog products and customized development of antigenic proteins such as featured membrane proteins, antibodies, cell lines, assay validation services, and related commercialized or customized kits. ACROBiosystems will also work with its sub-brand bioSeedin and utilize bioSeedin’s worldwide customer resources and channel network of nearly 10,000 pharmaceutical companies, its experienced global BD team, and its full-process licensing trading platform and service system, to find partners for EMBIOS more quickly and accurately, and to facilitate the conclusion of business deals and their actualization.

In addition, organoids have become a popular research area in the wave of reducing animal experiments around the world. Prof. Tagawa Yoh-ichi has been working in the field of organ microarrays for more than ten years, and his work has been very fruitful. In this session, Prof. Tagawa Yoh-ichi introduced the intestinal organ chip developed with Shimadzu Precision Instruments of Japan - a favorable tool for studying intestinal flora with its unique electrode design, unique fluid control method, and so on.

Around the topic of the presentation, product developers and Prof. Tagawa Yoh-ichi had a lively discussion on the establishment of in vitro disease models based on iPSC cells, the importance of organ chips for new drug development, and so on.

Prof. Julia TCW is a senior expert in the research of iPSC differentiated cells and Alzheimer's disease mechanism. In this symposium, Prof. Julia introduced the latest progress of her research on ApoE genotype affecting Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis on iPSC differentiated astrocytes. She also summarized the mechanism of ApoE-related lipid metabolism in astrocytes, as well as its correlation with pathology. In addition, the two sides also had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the operation points of iPSC differentiated cells, the construction of iPSC disease models, and the inspiration of ApoE-related pathways on Alzheimer's disease treatment from both academic and industrial perspectives.

On October 26th, Prof. Tagawa Yoh-ichi from Tokyo Institute of Technology and Prof. Julia TCW from Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Boston University School of Medicine were invited to ACROBiosystems Colloquium. The Colloquium focused on iPSC applications, with topics including neuroinfectious disease modeling, Alzheimer's disease mechanism, and organ on chip. Rosanna Zhang, Vice President of ACROBiosystems, participated in this Colloquium with colleagues from PD and PRD departments, including a Senior Manager of Neurological R&D, a Strategic Analyst, a Product Manager, and so on.

Prof. Tagawa Yoh-ichi has been working on the application of iPSC to construct infectious disease models and organ-on-a-chip research for many years. In this symposium, Prof. Tagawa Yoh-ichi mainly introduced the construction of the JC (John Cunningham) virus infected brain organ disease model and how to apply the model to the pathogenesis. He discussed the treatment of Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), which is a demyelinating disease caused by the activation of JC virus in patients with impaired immune system and infection of oligodendrocytes. The demyelinating disease is caused by the activation of JC virus to infect oligodendrocytes in patients with compromised immune systems. Currently, there is a lack of animal models for the study of PML. iPSC can differentiate not only into neurons, but also into oligodendrocytes from astrocytes. This multispecies cell model can well simulate the infection process of JC virus in vitro, which provides a more realistic and convenient tool for the study of PML caused by JC virus infection.

Autumn Tour

Autumn is perhaps the most beautiful season in Beijing, and we invited our friends to join us on October 21st for a tour of the Shougang Park to experience the seamless integration of the steel giant and modern civilization.

ACROBiosystems and Prof. Julia TCW have reached a consensus on the cooperation to establish and promote iPSC-related disease models, and to jointly explore new directions for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Both parties will combine their respective strengths to deepen the cooperation and work together to provide new ideas, tools, and hope for Alzheimer's disease and other neurological diseases.

Interview Skills Training（Suzhou）

With the rapid development of ACRO, personnel management is an important part of planning, attracting, selecting, transition, retaining, and developing are the aspects of talent management. You cannot transition, retain and develop individuals if you do not select the right talent. This cycle has a direct impact on our business and team. Structured interviews help interviewers systematically assess whether a candidate's experience and abilities match our current or future job openings.

More than 25 interviewers attended Suzhou's interviewer training. The main content included: ACRO's current interview process, interview structure, ACRO's talent selection philosophy, and interviewing through the behavioral interviewing method (STAR), how to ask questions, how to ask follow-up questions, how to identify the authenticity of the candidate, and so on. After the class, interviewers practiced through role-playing to improve their interviewing skills. Total score: 4.8 (out of 5)

Time and Energy Management Training (Shanghai) October 13th

On October 13, 2023, 23 students from Shanghai welcomed ACRO’s in-house Lecturer, Ms. Qin Yinmei's training on "Time and Energy Management", which helped the students to carry out effective time management, improve their work performance, and shape competitiveness in the company through 30 wonderful tips, methods and techniques of time management, and practical tools for efficiency management. Facilitators of this training cherished this rare learning opportunity, and they commented, "we learned about the understanding of time management, task planning, and making arrangements to help limit feelings of being overwhelmed."

Finally, I am very happy to participate in this training. Thanks to HR team for bringing us new employees who engaged in content sharing. The departmental introduction of the more senior staff helped us quickly learn the company's operating procedures and the boss Mike's face-to-face sharing allowed us to have a more in-depth view of the company's corporate culture and values. Through this training, we have improved our self-knowledge and understanding of the company, and enhanced our sense of identity and belonging to the company. We expect that we can grow together with the company in the coming days, and accomplish great work! 

2.The Other and the Self

We all know that we don't work alone but as a team, and an important factor in making teamwork more effective is communication. Johari Window is a technique and theory about communication. This training details the composition and application of Johari Window, which allows us to fully develop and train our self-awareness, as well as enhance the ability to communicate information among colleagues, which is conducive to good interpersonal relationships and team development.

If the Johari Window Theory is properly applied at work, information sharing within the company will be more adequate and understanding between members will be more in-depth, which can improve the communication efficiency and reduce the cost of communication, which in turn is conducive to providing a better space for communication and co-operation. 

3.Growing together — crossing the growth gap

In the workplace, the development of individuals cannot be separated from the company, while the development of the company is also the joint efforts of all employees. Individuals and companies are two of a kind, growing together. Win-win thinking requires us to think for ourselves while not forgetting the interests of others. It is to seek the best of both parties.
