ACROBiosystems and Neukio Biotherapeutics enter into a strategic partnership to accelerate the development and launch of new cell therapy drugs 

On December 4, 2023, Neukio Biotherapeutics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Neukio") and ACROBiosystems Group (hereinafter referred to as "ACROBiosystems") signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the One Life Science Industrial Park of Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone. The following leaders from ACROBiosystems attended the ceremony: founder, Chairman and CEO Mr. Mike Chen, Vice President of Cooperative Development and CEO of bioSeedin Ms. Yun Zhao, Vice President of Sales Dr. Heather Huang, Vice President of Product Development Dr. Jessie Chen, Pre-sales Technical Leader of East and South China Ms. Xiaohong Chen, Regional Manager of Shanghai Ms. Lulu Zhang, Supervisor of Corporate Development Ms. Ke Ke, and Regional Technical Manager of Shanghai Ms. Die Luan. Neukio's management team has rich industrialization experience in the field of cell therapy and has a deep understanding of the market demand. I believe our union will promote innovation in the industry and accelerate the R&D and marketing process of new drugs in the cell therapy field and their better clinical application."

Both parties highly recognize the business potential and sustainable value of each other as global strategic partners, and are willing to give full cooperation to their respective strengths to establish an all-round strategic cooperation covering a wide range of business ecosystems globally, including but not limited to business cooperation, resource sharing, joint development, commercialization licensing, investment, and financing.

ACROBiosystems will provide a series of solutions to Neukio in key biological reagent products and services, which are necessary for Neukio to carry out cell therapy drug development, manufacturing and clinical applications. The key biological reagent products and services include but not limited to catalog products and custom development of antigenic proteins, GMP grade cytokines, antibodies, magnetic beads, enzymes, cell lines, assay validation services and related commercialized or customized kits. ACROBiosystems will also work with its sub-brand bioSeedin and utilize bioSeedin’s worldwide customer resources and channel network of nearly 10,000 pharmaceutical companies, its experienced global BD team, and its full-process licensing trading platform and service system. With bioSeedin, we aim to find partners for Neukio swiftly and accurately and to facilitate the conclusion of business deals and their actualization.

After the strategic signing ceremony, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the details of the cooperation, especially the supply of production-related products and project collaboration.

Focusing on iPSC-derived CAR-NK high-end technology, Neukio has developed a new generation of universal, mass-produced, and solid tumor-treatable immune cell products, filling in the gaps in the global market, drastically reducing the cost of cell products, increasing product indications, and providing accessible, affordable, and excellent cell medicines for global tumor patients. It is certainly an industry leader in China. Currently, the company has obtained 4 software copyright patents, 7 national invention patents and 2 PCT patents. It has completed two rounds of financing totaling $98 million and is about to initiate clinical validation of its products. These all happened in less than three years of its establishment.

Acro's Leadership Phase II training

The two-day Leadership Phase II training focuses on five aspects of a manager' role: perception, talent selection, trust building, motivation deployment, and coaching techniques. The training aims to comprehensively enhance participants' management capabilities. Lan Mi, the HR Director, led the participants to use the DiSC model to thoroughly analyze themselves and formulate different management strategies for various employees based on their characteristics.

Participants' comment: “This training helps me understand better how to encourage and affirm my subordinates, which is helpful in motivating the team to be more active.”

The sixth NEO (New Employee Orientation) in 2023 was conducted in Beijing on November 30th with offline training. Dr. Lili Qin, Director of Product R&D, Liye Feng, Team Lead for Planning, Lan Mi, Director of Human Resources, and Mike Chen, CEO of Acro, were invited to share their experience with 44 new employees.

Trainee's comments: “This training demonstrates the company's emphasis on the importance of new employee training, reflecting the company's strategic policy of “valuing talents and cultivating talents".

The two-day Leadership Phase III training course focused on ladder construction, team building, remote management and efficient decision-making. It combined methodology and case studies to help Acro's 36 Leaders build and manage their teams.

Participant’s comment: "Through this training, we can connect past management practices with the theoretical knowledge, which is very helpful for solving the problems we encountered before in practice."

The fifth NEO (New Employee Orientation) in 2023 invited 45 new employees to an offline training on November 8th in Beijing. In this session, Li-Yeh Feng, Team Lead for Planning, Dr. Wenlin Ren, Associate Director of Product, Simin He, Director of Marketing, Lan Mi, Director of Human Resources, and Mike Chen, CEO of Acro, were invited to introduce the company's extraordinary history, to explain each department’s functions and to interpret the company's culture, mission, and values to the new employees. This training played an important part in helping new employees to quickly adapt to the new environment, understand the company, change their mindset and better engage in their work.

It all started with a phone call from HR while I was on the majestic rocks of Sanya in late April. At that time, I had already received an offer, so I stopped the long process of CV submission and interview. When HR called, I didn't realize which company it was for recruitment until after the call ended. It was then that I suddenly recalled seeing a picture with the ACRO logo posted by a classmate on my social media feed a few months ago. I searched online for information about the company and checked their hiring status. Without hesitation, I submitted my resume. Little did I know that this unplanned action would lead to unexpected rewards. Following that, I went through a series of interview challenges and finally received a job opportunity from ACRO, and from then on, my story with ACRO officially began.

Along with me, there are four other trainees in the position. Our role involves rotating through departments such as EO, MKT, PD, PRD, and QC for a year. Over the past few months, we have already experienced working in two departments, which has given us a better understanding of what the work entails, as well as the company's organizational structure, decision-making process and the way in which various departments collaborate with each other. This holistic perspective has given us a practical understanding of the whole process of a project from planning, development, research, production to sales, and has developed our ability to think systematically. Each department presents its unique challenges, and through continuous trial and error and learning, we have gradually acquired relevant knowledge and skills, enhancing our ability to independently complete tasks.

The first meeting when I entered ACRO was a welcome event with all the trainees, mentors, HR and senior colleagues gathered together. It was surreal to sit in a conference room with the interviewers I had seen on video during the interview process, as they shared their professional experiences. The feeling was truly remarkable. After that, I also actively participated in many training sessions, which provided me with a lot of opportunities to learn and exchange ideas. From the perspective of a new employee, the most important thing in the training is to understand the company itself, identify with the corporate culture and values, smoothly transitioning into the work role, and getting up to speed. At the same time, it is crucial to establish the right professional attitude and work ethic, shifting from an individual-focused mindset to a collective one. By integrating into the new team with a positive attitude, I am laying a solid foundation for my future career development.

In my short half-year career, I have been fortunate enough to meet many wonderful ACRO colleagues through work-related communication and training. The colleague I really wanted to get to know before is probably sitting next to me in my new workstation, or even be my neighbor in the rented accommodation. In each moment of wish fulfillment, I feel the indescribable magic of fate. They not only give me selfless help and support in my work, but also warm my heart with their care and greetings in daily interactions. The festive cards, birthday wishes and team-building gatherings have made me feel a lot of warmth and joy. All of this has gradually integrated me into the ACRO family, and I am delighted to have met everyone.

Last but not least, I sincerely express my gratitude to the mentors and colleagues from various departments for their guidance and assistance in my work, which has helped me adapt to the new work environment and continuously improve in my job. Thank you all! Everything has been arranged for the best. I hope I can keep my passion for my work, overcome more challenges, explore myself, find a suitable career path for myself, and contribute to the development of the company.
