The dongguan street

东关街东起古运河，西到国庆路，全长1122米，是明清时期扬州城最繁华富庶的街道。

The Dongguan Street, stretching a length of 1122 meters from the ancient canal in the east to the Guoqing Road, was the most prosperous and popular street in the Yangzhou city in Ming and Qing dynasty.

自京杭大运河开通后，东关街这条外依运河、内连城区的通衢大道，逐步成为最活跃的商贸往来和文化交流集聚地。经过千年的积淀，街内留下丰厚的历史遗存和人文古迹，堪称中国大运河沿线城市中保存最为完好的商业古街。

Since the opening of the great canal, Dongguan Street, a thoroughfare outside the canal and inside the city, came to become a most active gathering place of business and culture communications. Through thousand years of accumulation, with the rich historic remains and humanity sites, the street could be claimed the best preserved old business city among all the cities along the Great China Canal.

历史对于东关街是慷慨的，明清建筑群及“鱼骨状”街巷体系在没有消失在历史传承的洪流里，反而得以较为完善的保存，使其保持和沿袭了明清时期的传统风貌。

东关街现有华氏园、武当行宫等文保单位，恢复重现了花局里、壶园、街南书屋、冬荣园等历史建筑群，街内现有50多处名人故居、盐商大宅、寺庙园林、古树老井等重要历史遗存。这种“河（运河）、城（城门）、街（东关街）”多元而充满活力的空间格局，体现了江南运河城市的独有风韵。

The Dongguan street has some culture relic protection sites, such as the Hua’s Garden, the Wudang Temple and has restored historic compounds, such as Huaju Alley, The Hu Garden, South Street Book House and Dongrong Garden. There gathered over 50 vital culture relic sites including former residences of celebrities, Mansions of salt merchants, monastery gardens, and ancient trees and old wells. Such multi- and alive spatial framework in characteristics of the combination of river (canal), city (city gate) and street (Dongguan Street), which embodies the unique charm of cities along the canal in Jiangnan.

逸圃，是清末民初一位钱业经理人的住宅园林。

在扬州住宅园林中，园林多半前宅后园，然而此花园一部分筑于住宅东边，也就是西宅东园。八角形大门门额上嵌着二字刻石“逸圃”. 逸：有安乐，安闲和超过一般的意思；圃：指瓜果菜园地，喻意逸圃是人杰地灵，舒适安逸的家园乐土。

Yipu Garden is a private garden of a financial manager in the late Qing and early republic period. The manager was Li Songling.

In Yangzhou, most of the residential gardens are composed of house in the front and garden in the rare. But Yipu garden is quite different as the house is located in the west with garden in the east. The stone board above the gate is in the shape of octagon with two carved characters “Yi Pu”. “Yi” means “ease”, “comfort” and “exceed” and “Pu” means the vegetable plots or orchards in Chinese. Putting together, the names means a place for easy and comfortable life of outstanding people.

Yipu Garden

马氏因经营盐业落户扬州，后成为举世闻名的儒商。马氏兄弟俩勤敏好学，擅长诗词，广交朋友，爱好园林,对书籍情有独钟。据载，当年马氏兄弟的小玲珑山馆，景物之美，文风之盛，闻名于天下，许多文人雅士都往来于这里，博览群书，潜心著作。

街南书屋的价值不仅在于它是盐商遗迹，更重要的是，它是当年全国一流的民间图书馆，是招徕南北名流的文化俱乐部。它传递着我们这座古城足以启示后代的人文风习。

街南书屋

The Ma family dwelled in Yangzhou because of their salt business and later became famous literate merchants. The two bothers of Ma family were smart and diligent in studying. They were good with poems and verses, made friends with a variety of people and had good taste of gardening. They showed great interest in literature books. As is recorded, they built the “Xiaolinglongshanguan” and it was famous for its natural beauty and literature atmosphere. Many literate men came to visit, lingering for reading and composing articles.

The value of Street south bookstore lies not only in the fact that it is a historical relic of salt merchants, but also in the truth that it’s the only folk library, the cultural club to hold celebrities from north and southand to treat their guests. It conveys the humanistic custom of this city to the later generations and inspires them from time to time.

1、乘坐扬州旅游专线课至东关古渡。

2、乘坐88路、26路公交至解放桥站下，步行760米至关古渡。

BUS:

1. Take the bus of Yangzhou Tourist Line to Dongguan Ancient Ferry.

2. Take the bus No. 88 or No. 26 to the Jiefangqiao.

Stop, and then walk 760 meters to Dongguan Ancient Ferry.

Transport Line 

机场快线：

1、乘坐扬州旅游专线课至东关古渡。

2、乘坐88路、26路公交至解放桥站下，步行760米至关古渡。

Western Transport Passenger Hub of Yangzhou

BUS:

1. Take the bus of Yangzhou Tourist Line to Dongguan Ancient Ferry.

2. Take the bus No. 88 or No. 26 to the Jiefangqiao.

Stop, and then walk 760 meters to Dongguan Ancient Ferry.

机场快线：

1、从扬州泰州国际机场步行约20米，到达杨泰机场站。

2、乘坐扬泰机场扬州线，经过1站，到达城市候机楼（口岸委）站

3、步行约460米，到达廉政广场站

4、乘坐88路晚班，经过6站，到达琼花观站（也可以乘坐26路晚班）

5、步行约660米，到达东关街

时间：2小时左右     价格：全程80元

Western Transport Passenger Hub of Yangzhou

BUS:

1.Walk about twenty meters from Taizhou International Airport in Yangzhou to the Taizhou Airport Station of Yangzhou.

2.Take the bus Yangzhou Line at the airport and pass by No.1 station to the station of City Terminal Building (Port Council).

3.Walk along 460 meters to Lianzheng Square Station.

4.Take the bus No.88 and pass by six stops to Qiongghuanguan Station (or take the evening bus No.26).

5.Walk for 666 meters to Dongguan Street.

Time:about two hours price :thirty-two yuan for the whole journey.
