Continuously Sharpen Competitiveness through Efficient Development

on Charter development. We had to answer the challenging questions raised by the company's management personnel during each product reporting and the project was not officially launched until dozens of meetings were held. After carefully analyzing the customers' feedback and the situation of our competitors, we finally determined to make our product the market benchmark, and it must be the best benchmark. Then, in the core areas of chip, display and power supplies, we spent a year developing highly integrated SIP chips. High-resolution screen module was defined, and we cooperated with suppliers to mass produce primary batteries with better electrical performance. At the same time, we improved the communication protocol and addressed the whole machine processing technology problem. It took us two years to achieve mass production. Since its birth, Nebular has faced three tough battles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific Region. With innovative design, excellent protection performance and electrical performance, it passed a series of strict verification tests and was finally accepted by customers.
In the development of project D, we tried to meet the demand for strong functions first. At the initial stage of the scheme design, in order to reduce costs of materials, processing and assembly, we strived to find the optimal solution. In Project I, we adapted to the overseas supply chain layout by giving priorities to addressing raw materials, processing and assembly difficulties. New industries have different demands for products. By classifying and analyzing different product demands, we take into account the design style, process and materials and tap the market with normalized hardware. We will continue to update our products to seize new market opportunities.
If performance, price and design availability constitute a "triple paradox", representing customers, frontline and development respectively, we'll always focus on customers and frontline, and leave difficulties to the development team. While ensuring the right direction, we'll address the availability problem through design innovation, approach the best balance point of products and make better products in the continuous challenges.

Efficiency competition is the basic logic of competition among companies. In the rapidly developing industry of ESL, facing the changing external environment, we should always think about how to respond to market and customer needs quickly and efficiently and continue to maintain our competitiveness.
Doing it right once is the most efficient development
The core of product development is to make clear what customers need and how to meet their needs, covering the process from correct understanding and analysis of needs to accurate definition and realization of product power. The problem often confronted by ESL development is: should we make our product a market benchmark with extremely excellent performance or a usable product with lower cost and higher returns on clients' investment? We try to make the right product at one time based on different competitive situations because high efficiency is of significance only when we are in the right direction.
We started to develop and talk about Nebular products in January 2019. At the initial stage, we did not have an accurate understanding of our customers and the market or a clear definition of the products, and spent half a year

In the face of the uncertainty of the epidemic and the drastic fluctuation of foreign currency exchange rates in 2022, Hanshow employees made concerted efforts and responded in an orderly manner. It is expected that the annual sales revenue of Hanshow will exceed RMB 2.8 billion, with a year-on-year growth of more than 70%. The improvement of sales performance is inseparable from the unity and hard work of all colleagues, especially those in the front line departments at abroad who outperformed our sales target with a positive and optimistic attitude under collective wisdom and efforts despite relatively poor supports from the headquarters due to the epidemic. We are proud of such an excellent team.
As the saying goes, “fight the extreme hardship in pursuit of the highest goal.” The young Hanshow has entered a more different phase. To break through the difficulties and obstacles and go further, a profound reform to the organization is required. In 2022, the first year of the organizational process reform, the previous extensive operation and management mode can no longer meet the needs of rapid growth. The integration of business development and financial management, the advancement of IPD process of product system, and the construction and optimization of supply chain system will never stop despite conflicts, collisions and repetitions in this process! Things are unpredictable in the three-year epidemic, and we are constantly witnessing history. The shock waves of the epidemic have been longer and deeper than we thought. Hanshow must be physically strong
to withstand external storms, including geographical politics, foreign currency fluctuations and supply chain uncertainties. Superior organizational goals and continuous organizational reform have been our priorities for a long time to come. Self-improvement is the foundation for enduring existence of Hanshow.
2023 will be key to Hanshow’s development, and a good rhythm is critical to sustainable development. With the rapid growth of Hanshow’s business fundamentals, we must focus on the main business, build a moat, and enhance the core competitiveness. Meanwhile, we must take precautions and make substantial breakthroughs in the second growth curve, so as to ensure the sustainable growth of Hanshow in the future. Focus and breakthrough are the themes of 2023.
Hanshow is dedicated to a global frontrunner in digital solutions of the pan-retail sector. To achieve this grand vision, we must maintain sustainable focus, cut down the trivial parts and put all our efforts into pan-retail. Products and services are our two effective weapon in response to the competition. On the product side, we concentrate our efforts in both organizational building and product development. We have established a unified Smart Retail Division, which leverages concentrated R&D resources to build a digital retail product matrix with ESL as the core, including Lumina and AI robots. Other associated products are developed through industry cooperation. We will continue to build a moat of products, and accumulate experience in chip development, photovoltaic materials, module manufacturing and wireless communication technology to form Hanshow’s core competitiveness. We have set up a service and solution team in the Smart Retail Division, which provides special services for mass production products, integrates front line customers and product system, and better serves customers. It is a truly customer-centered continuous innovation.
Hanshow’s planning on the second growth curve is rooted in the digital energy solution provider in the pan-retail sector. New energy is an irresistible trend that we must quickly break through in such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in conjunction with our customer scenarios! Starting from the photovoltaic EPC project, we must manage to provide a solution integrating photovoltaic power generation, energy storage systems and electric charging for commercial retail scenarios through ODM cooperation and independent development.
The organization will be full of energy if guided towards a correct direction. Core talent is the key to rapid business growth. Looking back at the history of Hanshow, key problems were solved by key talents. In pursuit of further development, continuous discovery of talents is required for Hanshow to become a global forerunner in pan-retail solutions. Externally, more core talents with professional skills who recognize Hanshow’s core values are recruited. Internally, more colleagues are encouraged to recommend themselves for a post or task. We believe that prime ministers must have served as local officials, and great generals must have risen from the ranks. In this way, Hanshow, with a galaxy of talents, will definitely maintain its vigor. A time will come to ride the
wind and cleave the waves, we’ll set the cloud-white sail and cross the sea which raves. Hanshow will definitely make still further progress!

Secondly, the efficient operation of a team requires strong execution of each team member, i.e. quick response, high enthusiasm and strong combat capabilities. We tried to develop "special forces" for the project development in the new industry. Selecting the projects managers who have an in-depth understanding of the company's products and have software and hardware technical background as the leaders, we set up a capable team. Despite a small number of members, this team is strong in technical service and its members can complement each other in the face of customers. There is more uncertainty in tapping new industries, but once the goal is set, we should quickly deliver products with unique competitiveness. This team was set up during the company's "Second Entrepreneurship" and will spare no effort to make business breakthroughs and create the second growth curve.
The competition among companies in the ESL industry has developed from product power competition to business model competition, and even the overall competition of brands. In addition to competing in performance and product power, cost and supply chain, we'll face more competition in standards and rules as well as competition in discourse power in the industry in the future. Only when we have an efficient team, efficient organizational operation and efficient execution can we promote sustainable growth and forge ahead towards a bright future.

On May 31, 2022, EuroCIS 2022 - the leading trade fair for retail technology was officially held in Düsseldorf, Germany. After two years, Hanshow participated in the show again. Hanshow not only showcased the company's three product lines and digital solutions, but also released its new All-Star IoT platform, providing customers with one-stop IoT solutions from IoT device management to digital operation.
(1) Self-developed communication protocols, faster interconnection of a large number of devices
Focusing on the digital retail scenario, Hanshow All-Star IoT platform adopts its self-developed HiLPC wireless communication protocol, which addresses the application characteristics of dense devices, high communication frequency, and high real-time but limited network resources in offline retail store scenario. It solved the device communication efficiency problem in retail stores and made the system smooth, stable and secure.
2) High concurrency, high performance and high availability for industry users to realize the digital upgrade
All-Star IoT delivers instant updates for thousand of stores in a short period of time and has the ability to support high concurrency requirements. At the same time, the All-Star platform has superior performance in processing massive data across devices, and the integration processing of millions of data can be completed within five minutes. All-Star platform has a flexible modular integration method and an Open API based on the HTTP protocol, which allows users to integrate systems, develop third-party applications and customize solutions. Based on these functions, All-Star platform can empower retail customers to quickly establish the management capability of IoT devices, flexibly build business applications, integrate customized business connections, and further enhance the operational efficiency of digital stores. It includes price updating, inventory management, geolocation, all-scenario marketing, smart payment, customer flow analysis and out-of-stock monitoring and more, which improve the efficiency and accuracy of in-store operations.
(3) Opening a new era of intelligent IoT worldwide
The All-Star platform provides an answer that fit the actual application needs, based on the current situation faced by the global users. For overseas retailers, the All-Star platform adopts a more convenient and Open API solution on the basis of ensuring the security of communication protocols, which is well accepted by overseas retailers. For domestic companies,the All-Star platform can provide a SaaS platform for small and medium-sized retailers who are constrained by technology and cost to reduce the investment of server construction, while improving technical operation and maintenance services to further lower the threshold for retail digital transformation.
Currently, the All-Star platform has served more than 1,500 stores in China, while the POC environments in North America and Europe have been built and will be officially launched in the second half of the year. "What kind of people could be supervisors? Those who achieve the goals of the operators through their subordinates!" This is the first sentence at the beginning of the first chapter of this book. It is this sentence that caught my attention and plunged me into thinking.
When I happened to find the book "Management Manual for Small Teams with Less Than 10 People" on the push of a reading software homepage, I was immediately attracted by the title that looked very scientific. I couldn't help wondering why 10 people should be used as a threshold. With this question, I started to read the book and some memories welled up in my mind. When I first joined Hanshow Germany, I recalled, there were less than 10 people in the company. With these memories in my mind, my finger had already swiped to the left unconsciously.
The first point mentioned in the book is that a manager needs to clarify his responsibilities and develop a plan, organize relevant resources, and command and coordinate team members to work while doing his own work well in order to achieve the common goals. A  

supervisor needs, at the same time, to do a good job of conveying instructions. He should not simply exist as a "microphone", but needs to guide his team to move through specific tasks after having an in-depth understanding of the operator's instructions. When we receive a task from the leader, for example, we need to ensure the success of POC stores. A supervisor first needs to collect information in the store, sort out the necessary resources, inquire into the purpose of the customer's POC store, analyze the situation of competitors, make a complete plan according to the above information, and assign the specific tasks split from the plan to the team members. To sum up, there are two main directions of work for a manager: business management and personnel management. The former can be divided into plan formulation and business promotion, and the later include subordinate control and leadership assistance.

The second point in the book that impresses me most is how to ignite the working enthusiasm of team members. Taking golf game as an example, the author explains why
many people show interest to golf game. There are five main factors: 1. Clear goals; 2. Integrity of the game; 3. Real-time feedback; 4. Application of multiple skills; 5. Continuous decision making. Without the above motivation, it will inevitably reduce people's working enthusiasm. In addition, we need to listen to the speeches of team members patiently. In Hanshow Germany, in fact, we communicate with our superiors and leaders every once in a while. Most of the time, the leaders will also let us describe our current situation and talk about what difficulties we encounter, etc. After each communication, we can always get beneficial guidance on key issues.
The third point that this book highlights is how to manage yourself as a supervisor. The first thing you need to adjust is your own perspective and mentality. As a supervisor, you should stand at a higher height and consider the solution from a broader perspective. Simply put, you should look up more at the road instead of just pulling the cart. At the same time, a supervisor should be more 

rational in team communication, well manage his emotions, think from the perspective of team members, pay attention to the personality and ability of team members, and understand and support their life planning.
In fact, the book also mentions many excellent work models, such as PDCA cycle and FFS team theory. Because of the space, I can't talk about them one by one. In addition, the author also uses some wonderful examples and interesting cartoon pictures when explaining theories and views so that you'll not feeling bored.
Back to my original question: why does the author take 10 people as the threshold? In management, when discussing management work, a concept called "management range" is generally involved. Theoretically, the upper limit of a person's management range is 9, within which management and communication can rely on 1-to-1 communication. Only in this way can we fully understand the personality characteristics and emotional changes of each member, pay attention to the difficulties they encounter, and guide them to grow continuously. At the beginning of the book, it says that “supervisors are those who achieve the goals of the operators through their subordinates”, so supervisors need to be able to allocate energy reasonably in business management and personnel management, and need to look up at the direction when they pull the cart. In summary, this is a relatively pragmatic book. Just like its title, this book can be classified as an operation manual.

Three months… It has been three months already that I work and learn at Hanshow. It is so far a great adventure that began the 6th September 2021 when I joined the company as a “communication assistant”, I was quite unsure about how I would achieve what would be given to me, I was questioning myself will my skills be enough, what if they aren’t, what if I can’t get along with anyone at the office. So many questions I have now answer for.
Three months later, I am still questioning myself. I am still a communication assistant but now my abilities levelled up. I grew up in these past months. I took part to the Paris Retail Week, a huge event in the retail industry where I realised how comfortable I could be in front of people in a professional environment, how useful it could be to speak several languages. I was able to present our product and guide visitors to speak with the right person.
I was able to attend the LSA innovation Trophees ceremony on the 8th of December, where I realised how much I had learned about the Lumina, but also how there is still to be learned about the retail industry, about innovation, and how much I wanted to discover more about these topics.
I learned more and more about our current and future products, especially our Lumina and I am still learning. I am now able to organise small relaxing times every week and in charge for Communication. On 1st December, my manager left, during these two weeks, I discovered a new 

world: responsibilities. It is stressful, impressive and quite disturbing all of the sudden to take such a role. Yet, it is very interesting and comforting to see how supportive my colleagues are both on the professional and human level, and my internship has brought me so much on this level already.
By joining a Chinese company, I knew my modest Chinese skills might be useful, but I never thought they would help me connect in such a deep way with my colleagues and the teams of Hanshow. Step by step, the people at Hanshow France are giving me confidence, helping me be more relaxed (despite my quite emotional nature). I understood that they are the soul of the company and better than anyone they are the best moments I have here. And I hope this journey will provide with more and more interesting, deep and happy moments.

Time: At 00:00 a.m. in China, when most Chinese people are in their sweet dreams, a group of people are still discussing the project process with heart afire.
Event: The overseas major project meeting is going on in full swing. The idea of project resumption is clear and the conference is efficient. In order to make clear the work and management mode of the global sales system, domestic sales staff are listening carefully to each other and sharing their experience together.
We often meet with customers during the day and hold trainings or meetings in the evening or on weekends until late at night. There are countless scenes like this in our company, which can be seen every day. This is a group of brave soldiers who fight hard at the front line to create positive revenue of the company's financial statements. They are ordinary employees of Hanshow's global sales system.
As of November 27, 2021, I had been working in Hanshow for a whole month. Despite being a professional with more than 10 years of experience, I remain a newcomer in Hanshow. It is undeniable that I'm still a little bit nervous. Before joining Hanshow, I served with the Internet or IT companies, when CEO and co-founder seemed to be the codes of senior management out of our reach. Here, however, we can communicate with them face to face or even discuss issues in depth with them. We no longer need to "look up", but can have an "equal dialogue" with them. Mr. Hou’s wonderful speech in the newcomer 

training brought us directly into a difficult but domineering entrepreneurial journey. It can be said that this company is soaked in the blood, sweat and hard work of early entrepreneurs. I have gained a lot from this job rotation. Here, I'd like to share with you my feelings:
1. Consciously strengthen learning and strive to improve our comprehensive quality and ability
In order to adapt to the new environment and new work as well as to meet new challenges and new requirements, I strive to continuously improve my comprehensive ability and level through learning, both at work and in my daily life. My colleagues in the office are all excellent and I found many excellent qualities in them during the job rotation, which are worth learning. I believe, listen to them carefully, observe how they work, and learn from their experience and different work ideas, modes and methods in order to broaden our vision, improve our way of thinking and enhance our comprehensive quality and ability.
2. Work hard and effectively enhance our business capacity
This opportunity for job rotation is hard won, so I cherish it very much. During the job rotation, I always maintained high fighting spirit and a good mental state, quickly changed my role and actively participated in the work. As time flies, I have been serving with Hanshow for half a year since I joined the company in April. The job rotation is based on theoretical lectures and practical activities. The main job rotation department of our software development staff is software testing division. In the process of job rotation, the tutor first delivered theoretical and logic lectures on ESLs and APs, and then assigned test tasks to improve our understanding of the company's products and business through practice. At the same time, I have deepened my understanding of ESLs and AP through the testing of them, and learned about the key problems discovered in the testing after the development is completed so that I could pay attention to these points in future work and avoiding similar problems.

Heinrich Law(1) refers to the law of workspace safety. Behind every serious accident, according to Heinrich Law, unsafe acts of persons are responsible for most accidents and the 300-29-1 ratio of workplace.
Insufficient attention to accidents or hidden dangers will, according to Heinrich Law, lead to serious accidents. "A mile-long dike may collapse because of an ant's nest" is a good example. Let's explain it from the perspective of probability theory: Each event is independent. Assuming that the probability of hidden danger or accident of each event is 0.01%, the probability of no accident is thus 99.99%. Then the probability of no accident of 1329 events is 99.99% ^ 1329 = 0.8755468245, and the accident probability is 12.44531755%. The probability of 12% may be hidden danger, minor accident or serious accident. It can be imagined how terrible this number is. Therefore, we come to the conclusion that reducing the probability of hidden danger in each event helps reduce the probability of final accident. We should pay high attention to every small hidden danger or accident, take preventive measures, do a good job in prevention, and minimize the probability of hidden danger as much as possible.

The importance of Heinrich Law is self-evident, so it is now used in safety production by many enterprises. Modern production includes many links. There are many procedures in each link, and a division of labor is needed for each procedure. Safety in production includes not only the normal operation of machines, but also people's strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness. People are the key factor for the normal operation of machines. Strengthening people's safety awareness is, therefore, the most important thing that we must keep in mind. Heinrich Law can also be extended to our daily life. When riding a bike on the road, for example, people usually ignore traffic rules and risk their lives running red light. But those who drive cars or motorcycles usually abide by traffic rules. Why? It is because they'll be deducted points if they do not obey the rules. But even so, I occasionally see drivers running red lights. There is no point deduction for riding a bike or an electric bicycle, so we often see people riding a bike or an electric bicycle running the red light, and even pedestrians running the red light. This is because they do not have a strong sense of safety awareness. Most people think this way: I'll only run the red light this time. Actually, however, after they get away with it this time, they'll continue to run the red light next time. They'll always find the reason why they have to do so. Hometown is a magical place. There should be few such places in the world, which are so real but illusory and invisible at the same time.
As a Beijing girl born in the 1980s, I have witnessed the development of a city and even the country. While enjoying myself in the busy streets and the bustling noise, I can't help lamenting the great changes when I look back on the past.
When I was a child, my grandfather raised some pigeons on the balcony. Like many Beijingers at that time, raising pigeons was just a fun way to make full use of the balcony space. The three-storied pigeon loft was made of ordinary plywood removed from old furniture. The pigeons that lived in the loft were domestic pigeons that can be seen everywhere, which were approachable, gray headed and red eyed. Under the careful care of my grandpa, these pigeons gradually gave birth to a small pigeon "kingdom". There was a strict hierarchy like feudal ethics here. Pigeons of different gender and status occupied different "floors" and directions of the loft. With time passing by, there were more and more pigeons in the loft, and my grandpa equipped the leading pigeon with a whistle. 

Since then, the whistle blew every morning and evening, becoming a sonata of life. In my memory, I spent countless midsummer afternoons on the small balcony. I padded my feet, bowed my body and pulled my head, looked at the blue sky between the floors, wondered where the pigeons had gone, and looked forward to their early return with the hovering and approaching pigeon whistle so that I could open the door for them and led them home.

In the face of his high interest, I was speechless for a moment and didn't know how to respond. Is the shop where I bought a chocolate croissant every week when I was at school still there? How's the kind aunt who didn't accept my changes every time?

Over the past seven years, the place called hometown has changed a lot. The Fangjia Alley in the deep lane became a unique cultural treasure house filled with foreigners, and finally changed back to a dilapidated place with gray walls. Qianmen Street changed from a noisy and colorful gathering place to a national first-class demonstration tourist attraction full of international famous demonstration stores, and finally back to the simple streets and lanes. Passing by the street occasionally, looking at the families living in the deep part of the alley, I can't help thinking: these people may have lived in Qianmen Street for generations. They once witnessed the flashiness of this world, but are now Beijingers trapped in the "dilapidated small" houses without heating and independent tap water.
Dusk was approaching and it was getting dark. For a moment, the streets and alleys were covered with sesame paste with a strong smell of leek flowers and the fishy steam from the copper pot. Suddenly, through the eaves of the low bungalow, I saw a blue sky, and heard the long lost pigeon whistle, hovering overhead, as if out of reach, but in front of me. I couldn't move any more and stood there for a long time, allowing the voice of my hometown to drown my body and thoughts.
