Pioneer in Crystalline Silicon Wafers in China
Collaboration with Meyer Burger from Switzerland
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
In September 2003, HuanTai Group invested 18 million RMB to import two silicon wafer slicing machines, two squaring machines, and associated equipment from Switzerland’s Meyer Burger. In January 2004, Wang Lubao founded Zhenjiang Huantai Silicon Science &Technology Co., Ltd. In May of the same year, the silicon wafer production line was officially put into operation, marking a historical shift in breaking the monopoly of Japanese companies in the domestic silicon wafer market. Huantai built its factory in just three months and began production within five months, earning the praise of Zhenjiang Daily, which featured the story on the front page as “Huantai Speed.” Huantai became a pioneer in China’s crystalline silicon wafer industry.
Building Asia's Leading Photovoltaic Silicon Wafer Company
Partnering with the "Father of Chinese Solar Energy"
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
Seizing the opportunity in the photovoltaic industry, Wang Lubao further expanded domestic silicon wafer production capacity. On August 16, 2007, Wang Lubao, together with Dr. Shi Zhengrong, known as the "Father of Chinese Solar Energy," founded Huihuang Silicon Energy Co., Ltd. The project had a total investment of 500 million USD and an annual production capacity of 1,500 MW of silicon wafers, making it the largest in Asia and the third largest in the world at the time. The establishment of Glory Silicon Energy greatly accelerated the development of the photovoltaic industry.
"The Most Trustworthy Boss in Asia"
Partnership with MEMC USA
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
Following the 2008 global financial crisis, MEMC USA entered into talks with Huantai to outsource silicon wafer cutting. They requested a reduction in the original processing fee from $1.65 to $1.29 per wafer. Despite the challenge, Chairman Wang Lubao firmly decided to proceed. Huantai Group mobilized all resources, implementing extensive cost-saving measures to conserve every penny, every kilowatt-hour, and scrutinize every processing step. Remarkably, when the accounting books were closed, the project yielded a healthy profit. MEMC noted, “Amid the financial crisis, of our original nine partners, only Huantai remained. Wang Lubao is the most trustworthy boss in all of Asia!”
Thanks to the longstanding, mutually beneficial partnership, HuanTai and MEMC jointly invested $20 million in 2010 to establish Jiangsu Meike Silicon Energy Co., Ltd., continuing their story of cooperative success.
An Industry Collaboration Story
— Comprehensive Partnership with Tongwei Group
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
The collaboration between HuanTai and Tongwei traces back to 2010 with Yongxiang's polysilicon supply. In 2015, HuanTai began supplying wafers for Tongwei’s cell production. By 2016, the two companies co-developed the 10MW “Fishery-Solar Integrated Project” in Yangzhong, followed by the 20MW “Agri-Solar Integrated Project” in 2017.
After the “5.31” PV policy reform in 2018, at Tongwei's recommendation, Huantai established Baotou Meike Silicon Energy Co., Ltd. in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, investing in a mono ingot pulling project that integrated seamlessly with Tongwei’s polysilicon projects. This venture furthered the collaboration legacy in the PV industry.
From Wafer Production to Investment Collaboration
— Strategic Synergy with CHINT Group
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
Since 2012, Huantai and CHINT Group have engaged in a diverse and collaborative partnership. Over the years, both companies have fostered a model of mutual growth and development, establishing a successful upstream-downstream synergy within the photovoltaic industry chain. In 2021, CHINT Group became one of Meike Silicon Energy’s shareholders through its Series A financing round, further enhancing the breadth of their collaboration. Looking ahead, both companies will continue to work on industry chain coordination and ecosystem building, jointly supporting the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
Partnering with Hanwha to Implement a "Dual Market" Strategy and Close Cooperation with Hanwha Q CELLS
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
Since Meike’s implementation of the “domestic and international dual market” strategy, the company has maintained close cooperation with Hanwha Q CELLS. Over the years, Meike has been a designated supplier for Hanwha, with its silicon wafer quality consistently ranking at the top among Hanwha’s suppliers. Meike has established a strong supply relationship with Hanwha, offering the best products and services, and will continue to strengthen this cooperation to jointly explore the Southeast Asian market. Together, we will move forward on the new energy track, achieving mutual success through collaboration.
From Polycrystalline to Monocrystalline: Complementary Strengths and Win-Win Cooperation with Canadian Solar
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
Since 2013, Meike has established a long-term strategic partnership with Canadian Solar. Over the years, the two companies have actively explored and built a deep, stable relationship, transitioning from polycrystalline to monocrystalline technology. Through complementary strengths and resource sharing, they have maximized the value of their collaboration. Both parties are committed to joint efforts in product research and development, market expansion, and enhancing market competitiveness.

Following the “God of Management” and Listening to the “King of Glass”
- A Conversation with Warren Buffett and Cao Dewang
Hall Two ▪ Integrity
Chairman Wang Lubao had an intimate exchange with investment guru Warren Buffett.
In the world of investments, Warren Buffett is considered a “god-like” figure. On April 7, 2017, as the only invited Chinese team, over 10 MBA/EMBA representatives from Simowei had a dialogue with the 87-year-old investment master at Anthony's Steakhouse in Omaha, a small town in the American Midwest. Wang Lubao was invited to participate in this conversation and had lunch with Warren Buffett at the same table. Mr. Buffett was approachable and generously shared his life experiences, investment philosophy, and understanding of international economic trends.
On May 18, 2021, to explore ways for business transformation and change, Chairman Wang Lubao and Vice President Wu Meirong traveled with Simowei to Fujian to have a dialogue with business legend Mr. Cao Dewang. They listened closely to Mr. Cao’s insights on business management and his thoughts on life.
